I don't watch encrypted channels.

When I do a channel scan a fair proportion of them are encrypted and thus are no use to me. Would it be possible to stop these channels from showing in the scan results. This would give me alot less channels to to look through and making selecting of the channels that I want alot easier.

With my DVB-T set up I get around 64 channels of which about 15 are encrypted. So it's not that bad. However when I used to use DVB-S I recived around 300 of which only about 20 I was every interested in.

Firstly I agree, DVB-T was so much easier for me when I had it. I moved last year and could get DVB-T no longer so have been struggling with DVB-S since.....

Yes it is extremely annoying to scan for over 300 channels when you only want/need/can receive 30 of them.

As far as I am aware the only way to NOT let them scan is to edit the .ini file in the DVB-S folder of GBPVR and remove the scan settings you don't need.

The problem is that currently with the launch of Freesat UK the settings keep changing so if you remove a scan frequency from the .ini who knows maybe tomorrow that will be channel 5?

BTW what EPG guide do you use?

Cheers

I've gone the other way having moved from an area where I could only pick up DVB-S to an area where I can now pick up DVB-T. I am considering putting up a dish however so I can watch BBC HD and ITV HD.

When I was using DVB-S which was about 8 months ago I used Alan Birtles grabber for the EPG and although I never had any problesm with it i do feel that it is so much easier to grab the epg data from the transmission. So could I make another wish and request that GBPVR harvests the freesat EPG.
