I found a few threads from 2006 about this, but it looks like it's still a no-go? GBPVR is great, but I still have to exit full screen mode to listen to/interact with pandora.

I think the problem is Pandora has been shutdown for most of the World, I got an e-mail from them quite a while ago telling me that due to copyright issues they were turning off the UK access, I know this is also the case in France.
How about other distant lands?

I suspect not..... this came from Pandora last year
As you probably know, in July of 2007 we had to block usage of Pandora outside the U.S. because of the lack of a viable license structure for Internet radio streaming in other countries. It was a terrible day. We did however hold out some hope that a solution might exist for the UK, so we left it unblocked as we worked diligently with the rights organizations to negotiate an economically workable license fee. After over a year of trying, this has proved impossible. Both the PPL (which represents the record labels) and the MCPS/PRS Alliance (which represents music publishers) have demanded per track performance minima rates which are far too high to allow ad supported radio to operate and so, hugely disappointing and depressing to us as it is, we have to block the last territory outside of the US.

Here is an example of a plugin someone wrote for the SnapSteam Media application.
http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=32868 This look simple and to the point. I love Pandora and would like to see it in GBpvr. Just putting the idea out...

Quote:Here is an example of a plugin someone wrote for the SnapSteam Media application. Wow. Now that is what I'm talking about! If I new how to code stuff I'd write a plug in like this for GBPVR. Didn't learn enough in my CS151 class to do this though.

I just replied to the 2006 thread. ...oops
Here's my comment cutted and pasted-- Howdy. Y'all can run Open Pandora http://openpandora.googlepages.com/ as a Custom Task. You'll be able to start it from the Main screen. But once it's open You'll have to use your mouse to control what station you're listening to and shut it down with a click to the corner. But this all happens without exiting GBPVR. Our foreign (non US) friends can do this... http://openpandora.blogspot.com/2007/06/...ndora.html It says that it's open source, would someone know how to make a hauppage remote work with it.. ENJOY!! (Yes, I know cutted isn't a word) |
