Should the LNB switch numbers be the same in GBPVR config as those on a Sky STB?
Only I noticed that GBPVR has 11700 in the LNB switch, but the Sky box has a setting of 11778.
I have no idea what this is - I am new to Satellite and it all seems very foreign.
For what it's worth, my dish has a quad LNB fitted.

there are several types of LNB, sometimes with different lof and switch etc.

If your Sky STB works flawless I suggest to copy the values and see what happens. But in fact; I never saw a LNB switch frequence of 11778 before and 11700 is some standart type frequence.

Thank you for the info. I tried changing the LNB value to 11778, and a scan found some extra channels, such as the Luxe HD service on Hotbird - so either 11778 is correct, or a rescan would have found more stuff anyway, no way to tell for sure...
The engineer who installed the sky box did not change any settings on the new STB - so either 11778 is standard or the box auto-senses this setting?

I'm not aware of any standard like this. But if it works it seems to be right Smile

I have to use DVBViewer to do scans and export and tweak into gbpvr cache files. It didn't find Luxe HD either and I had to manually scan that frequency.

Because of that I'm wondering if that frequency is in the ini files for the astra/eurobird satellite that is used when scanning?? - I'm not at home at the moment so can't have a look.

As stated, I know nothing about this satellite malarky, but there are two ini.files in C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\BDA\DVB-S of interest:
SATTYPE]
1=0282
2=Astra 2A,2B,2D - this one does contain an 11778 entry
&
[SATTYPE]
1=0285
2=Eurobird 1
In the tuner card setting you can only choose one or other of these - but of course in the UK both satellites are available with one fixed dish - they are very close , just a couple .01 degrees apart.
In the WinTV and Powercinema software, these two sats are combined - 'Astra 2A, 2b, 2D, and Hotbird 1'.
As there are differences in most of the tuning parameters, it seems to me the only way GBPVR could find everything would be to combine these two .ini files - or to add the sat card twice, one set to Hotbird 1, and the other to Astra 2... Which do you think best?

I'd probably just do that.

this may lead you to problems if you try to record two different shows.

If I read the infos right then Luxe HD is transmitting at eurobird 1 at transponder 87.
So the 0282.ini is right at line 87 and should cover both sat (astra 2 and eurobird):
87=12643,H,27500,23

btw, 11778 within the xxx.ini describes one transponder frequency, 11700 in the bda setting tab describes the lnb switch frequency.

OK I did just that. But I did not realise how often they change things around on the satellite transponders!
My .ini file for hotbird 1 in GBPVR\BDA\DVB-S is very out-of-date, almost all the tuning parameters have changed - hence not finding stuff.
I tried manually editing the .ini with settings found at http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html, but it took ages and GBPVR crashed so I probably typed something in wrong. In the end I downloaded a combined Astra 2A / Eurobird list from http://www.sat-television.com/showfile.php?id=145609 - still needed some editing as a lot of the ini files on the web seem to have an extra ,DVB-S or ,S2 at the end.
Anyway it does seem that to use Satellite you need a reliable source of upto date .ini files...

Sorry - got the posts out of order.
Yes I have come to realise the difference between the two settings!
You're right - the current Luxe HD setting is in the 0282.ini file. However it does not seem to broadcast all the time, and I think scanning in GBPVR is the same for DVB-T & DVB-S - no broadcast, no find! I was watching it at the weekend. BUt that was after scanning with the 11778 LNB switch setting. Could that make a difference?
