That's why I need to see some logs. Some of the changes over the last six months outside of emulation mode might be causing a problem in certain conditions. I don't do any emulation mode testing on the MVP so I count on these reports.

Hi Martin,

Logs coming, just double checked setup, anything outside of emulation mode is NOT my problem as am running mvpmc in emulate mode and it is pretty beautiful!

Many Cheers

Well I'm, back....

Here's what I've done:

Booted server into safe mode and deleted all PVRX2 logs, then rebooted for clean logs.

Trying MVP now with MVPMC latest Dongle dated 05/08/08 (that could be d'load date not creation? But it is latest)

In emulation mode results follow as I fire up the MVP:

MVP with dongle as above. Tried changing channels, actually got 1 channel more than usual before lock up.

Logs attached, want this rebuild to be solid Wink

Cheers

I am going to need the MVP log which actually crashed. If you are autostarting more the one MVP you will have to set it to one.

Hi Martin,

set config to 1 x MVP.

Cleaned PVR Log files.

They are attached.

Cheers

I don't see any specific problem but I do see that the capture does begin to take what appears like a long time to acquire 200,000 bytes. sub or someone else might be able to add more. I'd probably drop your read ahead buffer to the defaults 2 seconds is a long time.

Another thing Is you don't have minimal OSD on for the MVP. Some people have found that this affects performance. I don't recommend it for emulation mode because I found it slowed things down for me but it probably works better with the Hauppauge dongle if you like it.

Yes upped the default 'ms response' while I was playing about, now set at 800 which has worked for me in the past.

Here's what I've done:

Complete roll back of XP Install pre-PVRX2.

Clean Install etc etc.

Tried dongle from 05/08/2008 (May have the dates backwards, this is day before month). Do not get black screen but after swapping channels 4/5 times either a freeze on screen or bumped back to main menu.

Rolled Back to dongle from 04/05/2008, same result as above.

Rolled back to dongle from 2007 that I have listed as X2A?

Much better results finally froze after 10/12 channel changes.

Then ran latest native dongle with PVRX2. Changed about 20 channels, no probs.

Guess obvious answer is run with native dongle but MVPMC one to me just is very brilliant and I've got my eye on a PCH Big Grin

BTW this is only a Live TV issue.

OK can do but still love your dongle and haven't had performance issues with OSD with any dongle in the past.

Cheers

Glad you found a solution, but again note without logs I can't do anything to help mvpmc. Even then it is impossible for me to troubleshoot since I don't see how mvpmc can impact the recording services ability to deliver data.

Unfortunately this won't help the other user that was having the some problem with the Hauppauge dongle.

If you do want to try a change for the new dongle I would add the command line option --no-seek-sync just in case the mpeg streams are now getting messed up by the mux.

Networking is so much better on the PCH that the problem will rarely be mvpmcx2.

Well sort of but without your dongle Sad

Quote:but again note without logs I can't do anything to help mvpmc.

Well again I can do logs are they going to help? Given this:

Quote:Even then it is impossible for me to troubleshoot since I don't see how mvpmc can impact the recording services ability to deliver data.

Understand the following but I hoped there may have been some connection with my issues, just trying to help a fellow MVPMC fan!

Quote:Unfortunately this won't help the other user that was having the some problem with the Hauppauge dongle.

Next bit!

Quote:If you do want to try a change for the new dongle I would add the command line option --no-seek-sync just in case the mpeg streams are now getting messed up by the mux.

Will try, can you tell me where best to place? Current config is:

if [ $MAC = "00:0D:FE:0B:B2:1E" ]; then
mvpmc -a 16:9auto -m pal -o svideo --startup emulate --emulate 10.0.0.60 &
else
mvpmc -a 4:3 -m pal -o svideo --startup emulate --emulate 10.0.0.60 &
fi

Because I've got a specific command for one MVP where can I place a global?

Cheers

Just add it to both lines like you did with -o svideo
