Comskip can be selected to run during a recording.
I wondered if this function could be extend so that Comskip could flag an ad real-time and GBPVR monitor the flag to mute advertisements in live TV?

No. I don't mean replay of a recording (that works pretty damn well) - I mean in live TV!

Won't work in live TV as it processes the whole file first to determine how it wants to set the detection flags then it detects the commercials

Yeah, thats not going to be possible. The vast majority of people use live preview mode for live tv, and there is no file for comskip to process. For those using time shift, much of comskip's logic seems to work better with a complete file ready for processing. (for example, things like using configured maximum advert lengths to rule out certain blocks as ads etc)

Comskip can do acceptable processing of time shifted live TV when the ads are simple USA style. (black frames around each ad, duration of multiple of 5 seconds, no other detection mechanisms needed). In all other cases a full recording of at least 30 minutes has to be processed to get acceptable results.

Ok, thanks guys.
I watch almost everything a day behind so I can skip ads anyway.
It's just sport that I watch live. You forget how annoying ads are!
