Hi,

I have been looking for a solution to be able to stream multiple channels live off multiple DVB-T cards...

Basically the idea is to use 10 DVB-T cards and to stream 10 different channels live across the LAN for others to access...All from 1 server.

Is this possible with GBPVR? Or am I being a bit too ambitious? :o

Theoretically it should do it, but I have no idea how the PCI bus and CPU of the server would cope. You also might run into bandwidth issues on the network as client mode has quite a bit of data overhead in addition to the video stream.
Are you really going to have 10 people watching simultaneously?

Thanks for your reply.

Bandwidth isnt really a problem, as we have a gigabit LAN..

I dont really need a client mode or anything, just a basic MMS/RTP/UDP stream of some sort that the clients could open up....would that make a difference or be possible?

you're better off with vlc, that should be able to do your job with minimum overhead. gbpvr is not the right thing to "broadcast" streams, it's client/server UI based. you'll probably still have a bottleneck (most likely PCI bus)

I was hoping to do that, but I dont think VLC supports pulling the stream data directly from the DVB-T source?

I was planning on using a mixture of PCI and USB cards (mostly USB) to do it...

Also, does anyone know if its possible to take multiple channels from the same mux and stream them back live? As this should cut down the amount of input cards then

first hit is this thread, happy reading...

it's a matter of how much data you need to squeeze through, you'll have to do the math yourself: get bitrate per ts (aka a mux), multiply by # of devices & check if you hit the roof somewhere Rolleyes

yes, there are other progs out there capable of capturing a full ts (gbpvr does not support that), so ideally you could get along with 3 capture devices (if you only have 10 diff channels that sounds like only 3 muxes). i would need 6 devices for all my 24 channels (4 per mux). you should better check google, happy mixing of the following keywords: dvb-t bda mux ts MMS/RTP/UDP stream...
