Hi,

My PC is working great with GB PVR. I have set it to go to standby after 20 minutes and was wondering if there is a way to wake the PC using my Hauppage PVR 150 remote, rather than having to press the power button. Lazy I know!

I'm using Windows XP.

I think you can only wake the system with USB remotes, so I'm pretty sure you cant do it with the PVR150 remote.

I looked at this some time ago and as far as I could tell, nothing on the PVR150 is powered up when the system is asleep - no power or ACPI options for it in control panel.

I'm guessing it can't be done either. The hauppauge remotes are serial based, not USB. If it were USB, you would have a chance.

let's get the guesses out of the equation Big Grin
hauppauge is selling tuners (PCI & USB) which they deliver with the hauppauge remote. the IR reciever is either:
- on a short cable which gets plugged in to the tuner card (for the PCI devices like PVR150/350)
- built into the USB device (like inside of my usb nova t diversity stick)

in both cases, the IR reviever shows up in the device manager, but even with the ones built into the USB devices, they are NOT listed under the USB devices (& therefore don't have any energy options to enable like "allow device to wake up machine" or the like). in both cases they show up under the "sound, video & game controllers" section like the capture device.

hauppauge also sells:
- tuners in MCE kits (seams like the real deal)
- MCE remote kits (only MCE remote & IR USB reciever)

only with an genuine MCE USB IR reciever you stand a chance to wake the machine with a remote. if anyone with an MCE bundle from hauppauge can confirm wake up is possible that would help anybody out Wink

to tell the remotes apart:
the hauppauge remote looks like that (there are 2 flavors, both have the hauppauge logo on them) [Image: novatpci_top.jpg]

the MCE remote they sell looks like that

Mine is PCI so question answered. Will have to expend the energy actually standing up and walking to the PC!

that's only half the truth, the WinTV-HVR-1700 Media Center Kit is also PCI but comes bundled with an MCE remote Wink
oh, and you can still buy an MCE remote or get some other custom solution to wake up the PC without having to stand up Big Grin

It gets to be more fun when you realise some PCI cards (nova-t-500) are in fact USB tuners, but with PCI<>USB interfaces on-board!
