Is there a way to change the font (or try different fonts) in MovieWiz? The letters in my plasma 50 inch can be better.

The cover art (folder.jpg) picture on 50 inch plasma is washed out (My folder.jpg is very good quality). Any suggestions how I can make my cover art pop up? Resolutions? etc..

Yes, the skin files control the font and size. Depending on what skin you are using you would edit the skin files under gbpvr/skins2/xxxx/MovieWiz/yyyy.xml

Where
xxxx = the skin (ie Blue, Community3,...)
yyyy = the specific panel you are modifying.

Note, if you make changes, you should backup your updated skin files as they will probably be overwritten by a new version of MovieWiz or Skin update.

Not really sure what to do here, I simply display the image file, but it is resized (proportionally) to fit the area.

Javawiz,

Thanks for your reply. What is the size you re size to? I would like to size my cover art to the SAME size you use ...this way your app does'nt need to re size.

Kindly let me know the size's you use for the following:

1/ Just the front half of the cover art and
2/ Complete front and back of the cover art

The way the skin works is relative size of the screen area. On the main MovieWiz screen, the placement element is:

Code:
<Placement name="VideoThumbnail"      loc="04.0,12.0"   />
Which is 4% from left for x position, and 12% from top for y position.

At a resolution of 1024x768, that puts top corner at approx 40x, 92y pixels.

The size of the image box is defined by the composite element - VideoThumbnailNormalImage

Code:
<CompositeImage name="VideoThumbnailNormalImage" size="40.0,40.0">
    <DrawRoundedRect                 loc="1,1"     size="98,98" fillColor="Transparent" borderColor="NormalVideoInfoBorder" radius="1" borderWidth="0"/>
    <DrawImage filename="@thumbnail" loc="2,2"     size="96,96" fixedAspectRatio="true" />
</CompositeImage>
This indicates the screen area is 40% wide and 40% high which equates to approx 410x307 pixels on a 1024x768 display.

The image is sized proportionally within the display area.

Similar calculation can be made for the image displayed on the thumbnail detail screen.

Thanks for your detailed math :-)

Is there a way to tell at what resolution is my laptop computer displaying in my Plasma 50 inch TV?

FYI, I have set my laptop to 800x600 so that I can see the full GBPVR menu over the DVI-D. The picture in the TV is pretty good but how to tell at what resolution is the picture being displayed?

Once I know the resolution I can compute based on your math.

Any suggestions that I should follow?

I would think somewhere in your display settings it should indicate what the resolution on your video output is.

Right-click desktop, select properties, click Settings tab. You may have to click the Advanced button to get more detail for multiple monitors.

ummm....

The 800x600 is the resolution that is shown on Advanced tab....

Does the resolution change automatically (because of EDID of plasma) when displayed in plasma was my question?

I would doubt it.

Do you run the plasma as a clone of the laptop screen or as a second screen? If a clone then it looks like you have it very low - and theoretically the picture should look garbage as you have a 4:3 resolution set (800x600) instead of a wide screen resolution.

Sounds like you need to bump up the resolution of your plasma to it's native resolution. Should be something like 1366 x 768 or maybe 1920 x 1080 or 1024 x 768. You'd have to look at the specs of your plasma.

clone I guess - How to tell?

No - I am surprised too. At 800x600 looks fantastic!

My plasma is PANASONIC TH-50PX60U and the native resolution is 1366 x 768. My display does not have an option of 1366 x 768. Is there a way to force this resolution?

My setup.
LAPTOP -> DVD-I to HDMI cable -> DENON AVR 2807 -> HDMI to PANASONIC TV

Let me tell you, I am happy at 800x600 resolution but what beats me is that at this resolution the picx should be washed out in theory! I am sure something is going on in the background that I am not comprehending! 16:9 pictures are at 16:9 and pretty good. Maybe If I change the resolution to "native resolution" the pictures will pop out

I want to reason this... Can you guys help me?

This may be why the 1366x768 resolution is not available since it's going through the receiver. There used to be a check box for saying show me all modes not just the supported ones. Then with that turned on (of off) it should show all the other resolutions.

Also what resolution does your TV report its connected at?
