I would like an extra option in season record.
'Season record, same channel, same timeslot, same day of week'

Extra option is same day of week. [Image: tounge.gif]

Just curious as why you need to narrow the section down to a specific day of week. I'm tossing around the idea of adding that feature into the External Recording Manager, but for pretty much everything I record, I can narrow the scope down by setting a Priority (External Recording Manager feature), Channel, and a Time range. Just curious why you would need to further narrow it down to a specific day of week?

Sometimes during the week reruns are played. For example.

Stargate has a monday night marathon on Scifi 5 hours of it. But all reruns. The show has new episodes on Friday. So it would actually record one old and one new. Not a big deal.

In the Tivo world there is a way to say record new shows only, I guess we can't get that? Does Zap2It not provide the rerun info? Just a thought.

Well, I'm planning to add duplicate checking in the External Recording Manager (currently working on the code for that), so that should take care of part of the problem.

Update: I've added a LimitDays element to my XML Schema for the External Recording Manager. It'll let you specify which day(s) to look for a recording. Days are entered like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. If specified, then the manager will only record the show if it falls on that day.

This along with the duplicate checking option I'm working on should take care of all situations.

Duplicate checking is actually pretty easy with Zap2It. Each show has a unique program id, which presents you with a few options. I tossed together a little Java app for myself a while back that does duplicate filtering for me. I simply have an EpisodeList file in the root of each Recordings directory. Every time a show is recorded, its unique program code is added to the file. Any shows that are recorded that have a code already present in the file are deleted.

Having a separate list is nice because even if I archive some shows to DVD and delete them from my disk, I still won't re-record them.

Basically, the unique program ID that zap2it includes makes this a trivial endeavor.

Maestro,
Can you share your Java app? This is the one piece of functionality that I need the most in GBPVR.

Thanks.
