Build 77 of EWA has been released. You can download it here or on the wiki.

I have been busy with my real job the last several months so changes have been slow. I apologize for the long time since the last update. Things are freeing up now so I should be able to get back on track with more timely releases.

This release focused on providing a plugin architecture that will allow developers to add their own tab of functionality within EWA. These plugins will not be part of the EWA release and developers are responsible for supporting/troubleshooting their plugins.

I also moved the table based screens from using a custom component for the header and footer to utilize a Master Page insted.

Specifics on plugins can be found on the wiki as can the first plugin created by Ninianne - Season Recordings Manager.

Date: 2008-09-24 Build Number: 77 Changes:
  • UncleJohnsBand: Add ability for EWA plugins.
    • Plugins are functioanlity that can be provided by contributors and are not part of the standard EWA package.
    • EWA will automatically display the plugin as a new tab in EWA.
    • Plugins can be turned on and off via the Config tab of EWA.
    • Plugin specifications for authoring plugins are now on the wiki.

  • UncleJohnsBand: Moved Table based screens to use a master page rather than header and footer controls. This will provide ease of maintenance moving forward.
  • UncleJohnsBand: Corrected search engine bug.
  • UncleJohnsBand: Fix bug that was causing the search results TreeView in the table based screen mode to always be empty.
  • UncleJohnsBand: Update auto-search to use search engine class logic rather than its own code.
  • UncleJohnsBand: Update in Guide to use the channel number and channel name properties for display purposes.
  • UncleJohnsBand: CSS General Notes:
    • CSS Note: To access CSS based screens use guide2.aspx as your start page.
    • CSS Note: CSS screens are coded in strict standards mode. This will make future updates easier and provides the best cross-browser (Firefox / IE) compatibility. However, this also means that the CSS sceens will only be fully supported by IE 7 and FireFox. Some screens will not work correctly in IE6. Sorry.
    • CSS Note: CSS screens are optimized for screens with 1024x768 resolution or higher. Lower resolution will just cause more scrolling on some screens.
    • CSS Note: Please post feedback/bugs in the EWA CSS Guide sticky thread located in the EWA support forum.

After "installing" this build, when I try to launch the config utility, it goes thru a dialog which says it is configuring gbpvr. I had a similar problem with gbpvr earlier and sub told me to look for the error in the application log. The log has this error:
Quote:Detection of product '{8F24606B-AB39-4D2F-9F1F-5D7E71B2C3F8}', feature 'Complete', component '{A3F022E4-FF2A-42D3-BA79-FFB1CE6F93CB}' failed. The resource 'C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\web\Plugins\4_Music Library\plugin_config.xml' does not exist.

I reverted back to build 76 and no such error.

EWA will try to load the same plugins that are being loaded by GBPVR GUI....try copying the plugin files you have for 4_Music Library in your gbpvr\plugins directory to the web\bin directory and see if that addresses the issue.

I dont have any 4_Music Library folder in gbpvr\plugins. I only have 2 plugins installed in there: graphrecorder and mvptrayicon.

Ok....when you did the upgraded did you follow the instructions on the wiki....

  • Stop the Recording Service
  • Delete all contents and directories in the gbpvr\web folder (except for the bin directory…removing this will cause GBPVR to reinstall the default Web Admin)
  • Delete only the taglib-sharp.dll, System.Web.Extensions.Design.dll, System.Web.Extensions.dll, eWorld.UI.dll, Rss.dll, Rss.pdb and Rss.Net.dll files from the gbpvr\web\bin directory
  • If a gbweb.dll file exists in the gbpvr\web\bin directory it should be deleted
  • Extract the zip into your gbpvr folder using the option to use directory names. This will load all the files into your gbpvr\web directory and subdirectories.
  • Restart the Recording Service
  • Hit Refresh in your Web Browser (important to reload cached files that might have changed)

That plugins\4_music_library is an old directory.

Edit: Since you got the GBPVR Install then you most likely deleted the Bin directory as well....you need to leave that alone and only delete out the DLL's listed above....otherwise you will trigger the wrath of the GBPVR repair install which will set (or attempt to) EWA back to the shipping version. So do the reinstall as instructed above and you should be ok.

I followed the instructions in the wiki for installing build 77. I am pretty sure I didnt delete the bin directory. I will have another go at it later and will post back here.

Ok...let me know....if you inadvertently delete one of the other DLL's that are in that directory you will also kick of the GBPVR repair install.

Why do I get this when I try to start EWA? Seems like I had this problem ages ago but couldn't find it in a search. Gotta be something simple I'm overlooking.
