Sometimes when I run Skiptool on a movie, I get large sections missing in the resulting AVI.

To transcode I use Stattik's script (we worked his new script out a while back), Fixed Quant, No IVTC and Auto.

Is this because of the Hauppauge timing issue? I thought I installed the newer drivers that were supposed to fix that. Is this another issue? I'm attaching the .txt file of a movie I just Transcoded yesterday. The original MPG was 2 hours, the resulting was 1 hour.

Skiptool edits the filename.txt file that comskip creates to mark the cuts, but then writes an edl file that is used by mencoder in stattik's scripts. Can you post the .edl file?

I'll be out of town this weekend so I might not look at this unitl next week..

The edl file looks fine. My guess is it is something with the input mpg. Can you run stattik's script in a command window and see if it outputs any useful info?

hi there, i'm having the same issues too.. particularly when removing ads from longer videos- such as a feature-length movie (typically over 120min in the original).. checked the edl and txt and they both looked fine too...
.. and share the same thoughts with pastro.. something to do with the input mpg Sad .. i'm recording dvb-t.. maybe due to my reception quality.. but my digital tv does have the occasional artifacts during nighttime when the movies are on.
this is probably something that mencoder can't handle such that when an ad's startinng point is found, mencoder skips way too much forward.. and thus my 2 hour long movies get chopped to only 1 hour Smile

Stattik had some ideas how to get this to work, and I would suggest working directly with his scripts and pull skiptool out of the loop.

K, finally getting to do this.

I ran the script like this:
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\stattik_transcode_0.5.5c.bat" "\\GHZ\VIDEO\ROMANCING THE STONE\ROMANCING THE STONE_20080818_08301100.MPG" 2 n 1

And so far, it's done this:
.
.
.
Checking to see if source file matches any transcode profiles.
.
Applying automatic encoding logic to source file.
.
The options for the current transcode are listed below.
.
.
Flagged as Standard
.
Copying temp.txt file to create PTL file.
1 file(s) copied.

C:\>start "Romancing the Stone_20080818_08301100.mpg - stattik_transcode" /low /
wait /min C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\ThirdP~1\mplayer\mencoder.exe "\\GHZ\VIDEO\ROM
ANCING THE STONE\ROMANCING THE STONE_20080818_08301100.MPG" -edl "\\GHZ\VIDEO\Ro
mancing the Stone\Romancing the Stone_20080818_08301100.edl" -sws 9 -lavdop
ts threads=2 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts fixed_quant=3:me_quality=6:chroma_me:noqpe
l:chroma_opt:vhq=4:bvhq=1:trellis:hq_ac:quant_type=mpeg:turbo:threads=2 -oac mp3
lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -vf pp=ci,scale=512:384,hqdn3d=3:2:3:3 -fps 30000/100
1 -ofps 30000/1001 -o "\\GHZ\VIDEO\Romancing the Stone\Romancing the Stone_2008
0818_08301100.avi"

That brings up another command window, running mencoder.

One thing I did notice on the mencoder screen is this:
videocodec: XviD (512x384 fourcc=44495658 [XVID])
xvid: par=0/0 (vga11), displayed=512x384, sampled=512x384
xvid: Fixed Quant Rate Control -- quantizer=3/1=3.00
New_Face failed. Maybe the font path is wrong.n 0mb A-V:-0.003 [0:0]
Please supply the text font file (~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf).
subtitle font: load_sub_face failed.
