Hi I know this has been brought up before, And people have suggested UBU stream could probably do it, But My wish is for a definitive program just for iplayer or definitive instructions on how to get it to work with UBU.

So how to, or a program to

List all programmes, by Channel, and have a search function, Just like the on-line version of iPlayer. All you have top do is select the program and it starts playing.

Thanks for any advice or any developer willing to take this on.

If anyone would like to see iPlayer in GBPVR please vote above

Actually, I'd just like to be able to access iPlayer. Big Grin

I try to access an interview or preview or the web extras for Torchwood & Doctor Who & I get shot down every time. Sad

Most of it's UK only due to licensing considerations.

Sort a reverse of Pandora, where only USA IP addresses can listen.

I'm not against the idea of a plugin in principal, but it does seem like a lot of work to embed a limited number of low bitrate programs inside a PVR. GBPVR can already record and store broadcast quality programs from any number of channels so what does iplayer offer in addition? We've only ever used iplayer when the HTPC has broken down Smile

It's hard to vote here in Canada where we can't access this, or Hulu or NetFlix or the new tv shows on YouTube.

I tend to use iplayer to:

  1. Get me out of trouble with the mrs (forgot to record something)
  2. Get me out of trouble with the mrs (the rare occasion GBPVR screws up)
  3. To watch a show that has been recommended by a friend after it's aired
I did start work on this a couple of months ago, but other stuff got in the way and the BBC's tendency to change the format of their URLs/browser sniffing turned me off...

Maybe the beeb will wake up and give us a proper api sometime soon??

The approach I took was to grab the pid (or whatever it's called) from http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/ and then build the url from there...

there are so many different ip vod services around the world, often with location restricted access. (which btw sometimes can be unlocked using a proxy).

I think its not so good to have one plugin per service (and reineventing the wheel again and again).

I wonder if there would be a more generic approach to do this type of "entertainment". A generic plugin that can be (dll) extended to various vod services - so only the actual scrapping dll or api access dll have to be re-written for a specific service (abc, bbc, and so on).
