Hi Guys,

Forgive me, I'm suffering with a nasty bout of the flu so I'm thinking as clearly as normal. Sad

I would really like to get the repeat and new flags working in the EPG so I would like to try UltraXML to do that (currently I'm using EPGExtra and it's super easy to install and works but it's not giving the repeat/new flags and I can't contact the author).

OK, it appears I need a program to grab an xml from schedules direct so that UtlraXML has the file to work with . . . what should I use to do that, or does the interal schedules direct support work? (if so, where is the file it generates so I can supply it to UltraXML?)

Thanks!

Steve

XMLTV: http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/Main_Page

In particular, you will be using the "tv_grab_na_dd" grabber.

Thanks Whurlston!

I doubt I'll make any progress tonight - I'm not feeling well and I downloaded xmltv from the website but I can't find the grabber for the US in the distribution. It's even mentioned in their documentation and the files for a few other countries are included but the file I need isn't in the distro (confirmed with a file search).

I'm just not up for a complicated sparsely documented install tonight. I have tomorrow off so maybe I'll be up to it then.

I really wish we could get a hold of Ubu as his EPGExtra is sooooo easy to install and works great, it's only bug is not picking up the new/repeat flags and hopefully that would be an easy fix.

Thanks again,

Steve

The na_dd grabber is built into the executable, you don't need to download it separately. I'll see if I'm able to do anything about EPGExtra.

I am using UltraXMLTV and am pretty sure that it came with all the necessary files. It has been a while but I believe all I had to run was the xmltv - configure.bat to set it up to pull from schedules direct. The only important part of the bat file if it wasn't already configured is the line
Quote:xmltv tv_grab_na_dd --configure

I took a nap which restored my focus and patience and allowed me to concentrate a bit better.

It's not an easy install, but it's not bad either. I may do a write up tomorrow if I'm feeling better.

Long story short, I got the grabber working and got UltraXML up and running! Smile It works GREAT and does exactly what I want, actually I didn't even know what I wanted . . . I was expecting it to say "new" or "repeat" in the program description. It doesn't though there is a check box in the configuration for repeat so maybe schedules direct just isn't setting that flag. There is a "new" check box and some options on how to set that - it defaults to setting it if the air date and current date match and rather than say "new" in the description it puts a * by the program name which is darn handy because it shows up on the listing grid that way . . . good stuff! Smile

The only thing is that it seems to really slow down the epg update when doing it from within GBPVR from the System menu, but I guess that really doesn't matter as it still completes in a matter of a couple minutes.

A couple minor issues - I wish we could trim the date display back to just the year and I wish it would put a space between the date and program title as now it tends to run together. I set it to display behind the program title so it's easy enough to read even though it runs together.

All in all, well worth the effort!

Yeah, once I got my focus and patience back I noticed that! :o

EPGExtra is easier to install and if it could be made to do the new program flag it would be my first choice so if you have time I'd appreciate it, but no hurry as UltraXML is doing what I want.

THANKS! Sorry for my earlier lack of patience!

One more minor thing - when I do an update from within GBPVR from the System menu it seems that when it switches to XML Enhancer the task bar shows up on the bottom of the screen even though I have the program in full screen mode. When it's done processing the task bar goes away, so no biggie but it's curious.

Anyway to stop that?

Thanks!
