Hi, I just downloaded this program today, and it looks very promising!

I have two items, that from quick research I could not see is included (but if I'm wrong, feel free to yell at me!!)

1. My tv has a lot of overscan/underscan (not sure which, I just know it cuts off a good portion of the top of my movies, say 5-7%). Today, I use zoomplayer as one can easily "zoom" in and out, when playing a movie, so it is perfectly adjusted. Does the GBPVR software have similar functionality? It would be great if it also works for the menusystems etc, as I naturally have over/underscan always...

2. Closely related: Would it be possible to get a function that stores the exact screen position, so I don't have to adjust every time I start a movie?

3. As an alternative to 1&2, a function that allows me to call zoomplayer for certain filetypes and with certain parameters would work too.

4. Bonus feature... Smile I have all my movies stored in separate folders (not TS_Video or anything, just a folder with the name of the movie, then inside, a file with the name of the movie.extension. Would it be possible to have the menu system show a .jpg icon for each "folder"? I know I could put everything in one folder, and make a .jpg for each movie. I'd rather keep each movie separate (still with .jpg per movie in each of those folders).

Hehe, I know I'm asking a lot, but I got really excited about this software, it looks fantastic!!!!!!

Thanks!

#1 If you look in the config.xml you can find the following lines that should give you want you with both the menus and video.
Code:
<!-- overscan control (border size in pixels) -->
  <OverScanBorderX1>12</OverScanBorderX1>
  <OverScanBorderY1>18</OverScanBorderY1>
  <OverScanBorderX2>12</OverScanBorderX2>
  <OverScanBorderY2>18</OverScanBorderY2>
  <OverScanVideoAlso>true</OverScanVideoAlso>

#2 If you are talking about aspect ratio I believe as long as you select a decoder in config.exe(other than system default) and set the aspect ratio to auto that this will help you

#4 Don't know about this because I use Moviewiz instead of the default video plugin.

Thanks, looks like that would do the trick with a little trial and error! Would be cool for the future if it was possible to adjust for instance using the wheel on the mouse, like on Zoomplayer!

Checked out MovieWiz as well, and that seems really promising too!

Dark Half, since you use it, do you know if I can get a "thumbnail mode" in this plugin as well, similar to the views you can choose in the standard video section? The title list with thumbnail of highlighted movie is nice, but personally I prefer to see multiple thumbnails on the screen (i.e. 4x6 thumbnails on each page). I like that it is possible to call external apps which would be a nice backup solution for the display of the movies as well.

Thanks!

Quite honestly, I've been rather perturbed with the lack of a GUI to adjust these settings.

I know that the config.xml is for tweakers and not really for users.

But I am reading of more and more people wishing to adjust their screens in a more graphical manner.

So I will stick my neck out and say that I'm almost finished writing a GUI to help with those screen settings...

Can't you adjust your TV overscan in the graphics card control panel? I was able to get a 'just perfect' slight overscan evenly around the whole frame. Just enough where I can see the start button and window close button, but the edge of the TV picture is just slightly off the screen so any edge distortion or vbi data is not visible.

not all videocard GUI's support this feature.
For instance, my Nvidia card support this, but my integrated intel graphics on my MacMini (running windows) doesn't. (But in MacOSX, it does...)

So having the option available inside of the GBPVR GUI would be excellent!

I run 1080i over component and ati card has problems doing a custom rez that the tv likes. It does have a 1770x9xx or something but it is not nearly enough. ..

A couple of questions before I have you 'test' my software...

What's your screen shape? 4x3, 16x9?

Have you installed into the default location? c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr ?

My program will allow for adjustment of zoom, overscan and aspect ratios... the first version concentrates on zoom, but that is what I think you really need in this case. You want to zoom out a little from the top, so you don't get any cut off. Right?

Do you have the latest drivers and Catalyst Control Center installed? I just upgraded to an HD4550 and Catalyst 8.11 and found the overscan and screen position adjustments to be very complete - picture size and position is independantly adjustable both horizontally and vertically.
