Hello Everyone,

I have a batch file set up in my Scheduled Tasks that updates my EPG every day. I've had a lot of problems in the past with the download failing, so I set up the batch file to retry every 10 minutes until it successfully downloads. The problem is that some times yapi2xml.exe will give a run-time error, and the error box will stay up until someone presses "OK", which defeats the purpose of having an automated batch file.

It would be nice to track down the source of the error, but more importantly, does anyone know how I could suppress this error box so my batch file can keep running until it's successful?

Thanks very much for your time!

It's dead. Try the EPG updater here: http://mc2xml.110mb.com/

Not necessarily dead just yet. This happens sometimes with yapi. Happened a couple months ago same thing it couldn't connect to get the EPG so it gets errors. I couldn't get any updates for a week but it started working again just randomly so just keep checking it to see if it comes back up again if not then gotta find something else.

I had run this successfully for about 6 months and just had problems starting yesterday. I noticed my schedule wasn't updating and tried to run it manually. I kept getting Run-time Error 13: Type Mismatch.

I thought maybe my database got corrupted somehow so I would try to reconfigure. When I entered my zip code I got a Run-time Error '9': Subscript out of range.

Has anyone had any success resolving these issues?

I had the exact same problems with Yapi2XML. After messing around with all the errors, Type 13, Type 9, etc., I finally gave up and switched to mc2xml. It's been working flawlessly for about a week. It only took me about 20 minutes to implement the switch from yapi to mc2xml.

My YApi2XML install started giving me the same run-time errors last week. I did a bit of research, found no quick solution, and finally decided to plunk down the $$ for Schedules Direct. Thankfully, it's really pretty affordable, and since my HTPC is useless without a program guide, I'd rather pay once a year to have an uninterrupted, COMPLETELY reliable program guide source.

That said, this is the first I've heard of EPG Updater -- sounds like a nice alternative to YApi2XML, but I don't regret the move to Schedules Direct.

I did some looking into this last night and discovered that the yahoo site is showing an error with a mysql database. I could not find any information on reporting errors with this service. The run time errors thrown by the yapi2xml.exe don’t indicate what actually went wrong.

I'm trying to get Schedules direct working but will look into the other one mentioned. Thanks for the posts.

How exactly to you migrate from one to the other without too many remapping headaches? Do I have to blow it out and start again? This is a pain with the HDTV channels because it may mean sitting there for 2 hours finding and identifying channels.

The short answer is yes, it required channel re-mapping.

I realized that I had old unused channels setup on both my tuner cards from a previous setup. This was cause the (no Details) display in the TV guide.

I switched from yapi2xml to Schedule Direct. While signing up for Schedule Direct I selected the channels I was going to use. (the site made this fairly easy.) I then produced a report containing a list of the channels I was using.

Next, I used the report to produce a delimited list of "active" channels and fed it into a SQL statement and ran against the db.

The net result was to disable all of the inactive channels on both my tuner cards (both use the same lineup.)

It seemed to work fine and I plan to use it in the future if I adjust my lineup.

Let me know if you want the SQL.
