Folks
I am a new user (second week) of the HDX1000 NMT.

I am trying to use GBPVR and MVPMCX2 to link my Vista server to the NMT.

I used the Dummies Guide to perform the install of all components. It showed one error in the install when it failed to copy NativeUtilities.dll into GBPBR directories so I did this manually.

When I start up the HDX1000 and use the Network Browser to get to and activate the GB-PVR.html I get the menu to choose GP-PVR via Network Share and then I get a blank screen.

The blank screen stays there as long as I let it and the HDX appears "hung". The only way to reset the HDX is to power off and on again.

I am connecting over ethernet via a gigabit netgear switch. I have added the program rules to Norton 360 firewall and when I telnet from my server to the HDX I get a connection (well blank screen no errors)

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Did you set the Video Output type on the NMT Setup screen? The default startmeup file does not work in Auto mode.

Hi Martin
My video output on the HDX1000 Setup is set to 1080p 59.9hz .

I am connected to a 50" 1080p Pioneer via HDMI.

Does that help?

Well that mode certainly might not be supported automatically. I would try editing startmeup with a linux style editor (see the survival guide if you haven't already.

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p &
or
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p -freq 50 &

You can save some time be typing those via telnet to see if you get an error.

Hi Martin
OK . so I found the startmeup file in my mvpc shared folder..

I added the string

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p -freq 50 &

and placed a # infront of the string that was not #'d out

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &

started the NMT and tried again .. same result .. starting the GB-PVR just gives me a blank screen.

when you say I can use telnet to do this..

it seemed to me that the HDX1000 (or standard Vista) doesnt come with telnet installed .. I followed the Windoze guide to install telnet client on my server and found a link for telnet client from the HDX forum.

when I now telnet using command prompt from my pc to the NMT I get a blank screen with a # in the top corner I am assuming this means it is OK?

Cheers

It should say

Code:
BusyBox v1.5.0 (2008-07-10 18:07:27 MYT) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/ #

The /# is the NMT equivalent of C:\>

I thought all versions of Vista have Telnet, but like many features now the default is off rather than on. However, that being said the commandline version in the OS is not great. Suggest getting hold of Putty or something else to make the experience more bearable.

If your Telnet client connects then you could try the command "ls" to see if anything is returned, or hit the tab key twice in quick succession and it will display all the available commands on the version of Linux being run

Many thanks for your help .

When I start a command line telnet session from my PC I can run and ls command (shows me the directories) also tab twice shows me a list of commands ... Do I assume from this that telnet is working OK..

Another thing ... what do I have to have running on Windows?

I have started telnet (then closed the window) .. I have a GB PVR icon in my taskbar .. do i need to have PVRX2 started as well?

If you can type telnet it working which does mean that your share is working (the blank screen did too).
Now we are trying to get the gbpvr screen. The next thing to do is to type in those command lines I gave you a couple of messages ago and see if either of them work.

OK .. .so I typed both of the commands in the telnet window on my PC

I get this response

/bin/sh: /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2: not found

Does this mean I have not installed something?

Cheers
