Source for plugin similiar to Video Library

I'm trying to make a plugin which is similar to the Video Library. I just want to add a bottom panel which will display additional information about the selected file (or maybe have it display when hitting a button).

I'm having trouble figuring out the layout of the application though. There isn't much documentation on the API. Therefore, I was wondering if someone had some source code similar to the current existing Video Library which I could take a look at. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I plan to open source this using sourceforge or Google code once I complete it... that way it can easily help all future developers.

Did you get anywhere with this? GBPVR is my preferred HTPC front end, but boxee has a far better identification system for non-recorded (ie downloaded or ripped) videos and dvds - as I've gone to a completely diskless life I too would like some info on my video library when browsing my dvd library.
