I found this article VERY fascinating to anybody doing a HTPC.

My question is, has anybody looked into the points mentioned here in regards to GBPVR? Specifically, does the MPC-HC filters help PVRX2 and/or MVC/PCH clients?

My guess would be that the PCH clients may not necessarily benefit from the MPC-HC filters but it would be neat if the filters could help playing back HD rips using a custom task in GBPVR and an appropriate player.

Hopefully, some of the more advanced users can chime in as well.

Yes the MPC-HC files have been tried and tested- a very good guide was written here:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ome+cinema
I was using them with great success in GBPVR fpr mpeg and H264 MKV and WMV HD- until I got a sat card for viewing the UK HD 1080i channels. Like all the hardware decoders I have tried, seem to make a right pigs' ear of 1080i H264 transport streams:-(
It's the age-old problem - no decoder seems able to do all the video types well. Because I want to watch HD live TV, I had to sacrifice MPC-HD decoder and use COreAVC. CPU runs about 50% playing HD - but when I used MPC-HC filters, CPU was - believe it or not - less than 5%!
The main thing is MPC-HC is free, unlike PowerDVD, Arcsoft, or CoreAVC - and it seemed to work as well as any of them...

I have to say io bought CoreAVC after seeing rave reviews about playback quality and cpu usage. Since bought a 8800GT but saw 25-35% cpu use with coreAVC and zoom player. Just tried this now and get 10-15% cpu.
This is no doubt a clear difference and it used DXVA without any changes.
Thank you very much for this nice find!
