Started the same process with utilities...will need help on this..maybe.

Also, should we just drop the list flyout in the side bar and just force users to go through the page to view categories, ect?

Jaggy, I placed a link to the category table of contents at the top of the lists. What do you think?

I also re-did the Plugin, Skin, and Utilities page so the categories show up in the table of contents.

Really nice!
Very useful. And a suggestion for the next step.

There are still a lot of Unsupported plugins in the list. Probably because the developer has stopped being active completely.
How about setting a date (I'd suggest the time around the release of pvrx2.exe or jan 1 2008) and all plugin pages without any changes after this date is set as "Unsupported".

If a plugin is changed wrongfully, the developer can change it back to active himself (and by this show that it is active Smile ).

I think the difference between active and unsupported is more then if the page has been edited.

For example, as I have quite a few projects to my name I tend to focus on one at a time (at the moment it's the Community Skin). This means that will be no new releases for any of the others for many months. So they would appear to be non-active, BUT, they are not unsupported (see the recent posts in the ICLP support thread for example.

I would be against the automatic date-based marking of "Unsupported", I think it would be better if it was based on whether the plugin still works or not (due to changes in GB-PVR etc), whether the author is still active or at least contactable, and if the author is still interested in the plugin (for example, the Themes Manager plugin).

Yes I agree that could be the case. Thats why I suggested a generously old date; ie the release of pvrx2. That was released summer of 07 if I remember correctly.

But on the other hand you have plugins as CD Player and Movies that still may work - with some (or a lot of) tweaking as their latest version is dated pre pvrx2.

Maybe this is the only two, as I just did a quick check (there is a lot of active plugins out there!!). So at least those two should be moved (I think I have tried both a while back, with bad results).

I tend to look at a plugin page on the wiki and I..

A) Test that it works.
B) Has serious support requests on the forums gone over 6 months without a response.
C) View author profile and find out last time visited forums.

If those seem to be red flags that the author isn't around, I mark them as such.

That is just the criteria I used.

That sounds good, main thing is that there IS a plan to take care of the ownerless projects that is bound to float around from time to time.

Nice way to organize the plugins and utilities on the wiki. BTW the RecTracker utility is distributed as part of XSuite and I've supported it recently so it should probably not be in the unsupported utility list.
