I was just wondering if there is any way to get the HD PVR to work with the newest version of gbpvr yet. I have just heard of people getting some things to work with different codecs.

It works just fine, watching Bones on Fox with one right now while I type! What are you having trouble with?

When I play back my recordings from the recordings menu I get audio but not any video. Live TV works fine and I can play back the files fine in TME. I have set it to use the Arcsoft codecs in the config. My drivers are the newest ones from the Hauppauge web site.

I think there is a problem with some versions the arcsoft video decoder for playback of recordings, but unfortunately I havnt found time to look into it yet. For now you may need to try finding the Cyberlink H.264 decoder.

I have yet to find a codec combination that will get you both LiveTV and Recordings playback (YMMV). If you use Cyberlink you will get choppy/out-of-sync LiveTV but recordings will play back fine (this may be due to my machine's requirement of using hardware acceleration). If use the Arcsoft codec LiveTV works great but can't playback recordings (unless you just want to listen to it). I just play back recordings on PopcornHour upstairs or pull MPC-HC and play it in that.

those are h.264 right? try the MPC Video decoder...has dxva and everything...
curious if it works as well on the tv strains of h.264 as it does bdrom,etc..
[it's on the MPC HC site under separate filter downloads]

i'd suggest the ffdshow tryouts beta6 as it is smooth w/h264 now but lacks hardware accell..

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mpc-hc/...deoDec.zip

just have to regsvr32 it and add "MPC - Video decoder" to config under supported h264 decoders..

Unfortunately H.264 arent as interchangeable as MPEG2 decoders. Specific support needs to be added for each decoder. Unfortunately I dont think the MPC-HC or ffdshow H.264 decoders are similar enough to the existing supported decoders to be compatible.

is that just for livetv or in general?
i'm wondering if it's because it can only be connected out to renderer? or only problems in in-progress playback?

[i doubt here in US i'll run into any in-progress h.264 unless i get a hdpvr]

or is it other little tidbits?

If don't have either the Arcsoft or Cyberlink codecs you can't watch LiveTV with the MPC-HC codec. Sub would have to explicitly add support for it to work (I SO wish he would as it is BY FAR the best codec).

Ya know, I haven't tried recording since I updated Arcsoft and the drivers... I'll try that this weekend and see if I have any luck.
