I recently started using ccextractor to get srt files from ATSC recordings. they are nice and they do show up on the MVP however the captions overwrite (never clean up) so the writing ends up being a smear. the OSD does not disappear either (the file name in the blue/black box). removing the srt file returns everything to normal. the captions are extracted to avoid roll up & typing, it's just the whole sentence once. i'm using mvpmc firmware dongle.mvpmc-20080930.bin.

The recordings play fine on the PC and PVRX2. help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I never really did have much luck with the OSD in emulation mode, there might be a hardware trick that I don't understand but GBPVR always seems to send too much traffic for mvpmc to handle. The Hauppauge dongle might be better. If you convert the file to standard mpeg it is also possible that not having to transcode it might allow better streaming.

i think theres an option somewhere to clear the screen between titles, at least i remember having to turn that on somewhere in the conversion..check the ccextract settings..

the original dongle is causing reboots every few key strokes or just playing a few minutes of video. and it needs a minute to load every time. your alpha dongle is much better and even though it takes about 5 minutes to initially load on my helius mvp it comes out of standby in less than 10 seconds without any reboots!

if the problems with the subtitles and the FF/REW issues could be solved this would make the mvp rock solid for me Big Grin i can live without subtitles, but it would just make it so much more fun! Cool

Five minutes to load sure sounds like networking issues.

i didn't edit any settings in the dongle so i'd assume it's because it's searching the network. it could also be due to AT&T's U-verse router which connects my PC with the MVP (and their DVR)...

anyway i tried all possible combinations of incremental updates and minimal OSD options and it still smears/overwrites subtitles and the title indicator. removing srt files or playing recordings that don't have srt works fine (except for the FF/REW skip/jump of course)
