Guys

I am running a GB-PVR from a Popcorn Hour A-100 in the lounge. My Windows Home Server runs GB-PVR and provides video, music and photo storage. House is fully networked with CaT6.

This all works fine, although obviously I cannot watch or record TV through it. There are numerous problems trying to install TV cards on WHS so I am very tempted to purchase the HD Homerun device which has just become available in the UK (£159).

The family currently use a reliable HDD recorder in the lounge (TVOnics DVR-250 http://www.tvonics.com/digital-tv-recorders/) but all the recordings are 'stuck' on the HDD and not available anywhere else in the house.

Will my set-up with the addition of the HD Homerun tuner provide as good as, if not a better, set-up for the family as I currently have?

With 4 children my budget is tight so I need convincing!

Thanks

Mark

In searching for WHS problems here it seems like some people have had success in general http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=24525 but there certainly have been difficulties. You might have more luck in the General Discussion forum, because not everyone follows this forum, and you might reach a wider audience of WHS users.

Martin - many thanks.

Posted in General Forum too to see if I get the 'broader' view I'm after.

Rudgey - I'm running pretty much the same basic setup - WHS (homebrew), GB-PVR server on WHS with both PCH and PC clients, wired networking.

My WHS is fitted with two DVB-T cards, a Nebula and a Hauppauge Nova-T 500, giving me 3 tuners and although I've had some problems with recordings these appear to be GB-PVR general issues (addressed in the support thread) and not anything to do with WHS. I found the setup of the TV cards far easier than getting the PCH client running with my shares on the WHS, if you've done the latter you're more than equipped to sort the cards.

With DVB-T cards being a third of the price of the HD-Homerun box you might wish to try it - I'm sure you get lots of support from the forum.

If you want some more info ask away or feel free to PM me.

Cheers - Chris
