Hi,

I've just installed MVPMCX2 as per the dummies guide. Everything seemed to go well, but I've had these problems:

1) I have set the directories for my media and can browse to them from my PC and laptops, but when I load GB-PVR on my PHC A-110, no files are shown.

2) As per the instructions, I checked to see if I could see the mayhem theme, but all I got was a blue theme with a horizontal menu. My MAC address is correct

3) When I change the theme in the config, it doesnt change the theme remains the same when I open GB-PVR

4) Musicscanner.exe is not in my C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\ directory.

Thats me for now, thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Fish

The number one thing to do to assist us in supporting you is to compress and attach your GBPVR logs with the message.

#1 is probably a network permission issue if you use passwords

Let's worry about support plugins like Music for later.

Hi,

I removed the password on my PCH and everything looked right. The mayhem skin was there and the settings were being remembered.

However, I still can't see my media. The paths are \\192.168.0.4\share\Videos etc. I can browse to these from my PC and laptops. The paths are correct, with uppercase letters in the right place.

I've attached the contents of the logs folder. Hope this helps.

Thanks again,

Fish

Ok, there are a few things. You have Default set for the MVP screen, you should change it to Mayhem3 in config.exe if that is the skin you want. Note that some people have found it slower than the normal Blue screen but you aren't running HD so that shouldn't be an issue

I only saw one attempt to play a file and that was Shoutcast if that worked, your problem with playing file is likely permissions. Go into the Services menu and on the properties of the GB-PVR Recording Service go into the Login tab and change from running as Local System change to NMT password 1234 which will log you onto the PCH. GBPVR by default works best as local drives and guest access, but setting the PCH up for guest is too technical.

Thanks mvallevand,

All is working well, it was network/NMT permissions afterall.

Thanks for all your help; much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Hi,

Ignore my last post.

Although I can see my media libraries when I open GB-PVR from my laptop, I cannot see anything when I open it on the PCH A-110.

I've attached my log files. To help with my understanding, what log files should I be looking at? I'd like to know a bit more about these problems so that I can help myself in future.

Thanks,

Fish

I look at the MVP-* logs but in this case because it is a permissions issue there is not much to see. Did you make the changes to the services that I suggested above?

Hi mvallevand,

Here's what I tries and what the outcome was:

- Start > Run > services.msc
- Opened the properties for GB-PVR Recording Service
- Clicked the Log On tab and entered NMT as the username and 1234 as the password.
- The message I got back was: 'The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified.'
- I got this error no matter what i entered into the username/password fields. I also tried PCH-A110\nmt as the username and also 192.168.0.4\nmt
- I made sure the PCH password was definately 1234 by going into the setup screen on the PHC.

Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Did you try creating an account nmt 1234 on your PC? Sorry I don't use this network passwords I don't believe it is necessary to secure home networks as much as many people do, so if this doesn't work somebody else will have to pipe in.
