Most DVDs that I try have not problems, I have some home-made DVDs that I burned a few years ago that will not play in GBPVR. When I go to the DVD module, it just goes to a blank screen until I hit the stop button. If I use MPC-HC, I get the same thing, except in MPC-HC, I am able to use the navigation menu to jump to Title 01.

The only thing different about these DVDs is that I had used IFO Edit to change the First Play PGC to force the audio and subtitle tracks to what I wanted as default. It appears that for whatever reason, the standard DVD Navigator does not process this PGC correct and does not automatically play Title 01.

The discs work fine in both my standalone DVD players. They also play fine in my WinDVD 4 software.

So, I'm wondering, what other DVD Navigators work well with GBPVR? I have Nero installed and used graph edit to build a graph using the Nero DVD Navigator. The graph worked and the DVD played Title 01, but when I tried to use it in GBPVR it crashed. I also tried using the Intervideo Navigator (from WinDVD4) which also crashed on some discs.

Anyone have experience using any of these or other DVD Navigator successfully with GBPVR?

Or, is there a way I can jump to a specific title on the disc within GBPVR?

Thanks,

You can type the chapter number followed by 'enter'.

I will try this tonight, but if I don't currently have a title selected by the navigator, will there be any chapter to jump to? I guess I'll find out.

I have used the dvd navigator from cyberlink powerdvd8 and it works well, although I haven't tried your scenario with it. I started using it because the normal microsoft dvd navigator in xp will not work when you're using EVR, but the cyberlink one will. I just wish there was a way to just install cyberlink's navigator without all of the rest of their stuff.

Trying to skip to chapter 1 didn't work. I think it didn't work because no Title was selected and thus there were no chapters to skip to.

I did some more messing around last night with some of the navigators I have. I currenly have installed WinDVD 4, PowerDVD 5, and Nero 7, all of which have their own navigators and decoders. They all work fine independently and I can build graphs in graphedit for them.

The Intervideo navigator/decoder combo works sometimes. It's weird. It seems it will only work if there is a disc in the drive when I start up the GBPVR software. That means, I can't watch any ripped DVDs without having a disc in first. And the disc needs to be in when the software is initially opened otherwise it doesn't work. In this case, the "doesn't work" means that when trying to play the dvd (disc or rip, css or non) it would go to a black screen for maybe a second and then back to the main menu. On top of this, the WinDVD 4 decoder is not very good. Really poor deinterlacing, and tearing.

I can NOT get the Nero Navigator to work in GBPVR at all. I was, however, able to make a graph in graphedit that worked.

The cyberlink one navigator/decoder combo has the same problem with going to a black screen for a second and then back to the main menu.

Are there any other navigators out there that I could try? Would updated versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD work? I have downloaded the trials for the latest versions but haven't yet installed them. I'm not planning on purchasing software just to fix the playback on some of my older DVDs.

Or are there any other DVD playback plugins that might allow title skipping?

Thanks again!

Seems like a long way to go for some old DVDs

Instead of going through all this to make GBPVR work with old DVDs why not rip the DVDs to your HDD and make the change necessary so the audio track you want is the default.

Then burn it to a new DVD or just run it as an ISO.
