Dear Brian

The program is working well.

My wife is nagging me to record programs when we are out of the house.

Is there any way of running a script from scheduler that would fire up PRX2 and the radio plugin set permanently at say radio 4.

Hi Maurice,

Well there wasn't but...

Try the attached. Unzip to a temp folder and simply drag'n'drop the Plugins folder it contains to the gbpvr install folder (stop the dvb radio service first).

To use:

Create a new entry in the DvbRadio.xml <settings> section...

<AutoPlay>BBC Radio 4</AutoPlay>

...or what ever station - use the name of the station as you see it in the DVB Radio plugin although it's not case-sensitive.

Create a scheduled task to run the AutoStart.bat file I've included - make sure the task is set to "Start in" the Plugins\DvbRadio folder (the scheduled task wizard should do this by default).

NOTE: I haven't spent much time on this but I've tested it a few times and it seems OK. It basically emulates starting pvrx2, selecting the plugin and manually playing the channel so it should be pretty harmless.

NOTE: If you have an <AutoPlay> setting in the DvbRadio.xml file it will automatically play that channel even if you start pvrx2 and the plugin manually - it has no way of telling. It can be disabled by deleting the <AutoPlay> setting or by editing to <AutoPlay>off</AutoPlay>.

NOTE: If you want to use this for recording purposes, it's up to you to stop the playback and find the gbnetradio mp3 file etc.

can't he just use the autoplay with 'pvrx2.exe -direct “plugin name” ' in scheduler?
that will start pvrx2 and go straight to your plugin,autoplay is up to plugin tho...
guess that's basically what you did, n/m...

Dear Brian

Batch file runs fine but when I run it from scheduler PRX2 uses 100% of resources and never starts. Scheduler on XP requires an account with a password so a while back a setup a user named schedule with a password just for controlling scheduled tasks, this works ok for closing of the PC automatically in the evening etc. Any idea aboout the resource problem.

Ok setup password on the main account and scheduler/PRX2 now works ok.

Next qustion is it possible to setuo batch file that will close down PRX2 so that I can close down the recording at the time it finishes using scheduler.

The next stage would be to use the EPG, pity that radio can not be built into the main system !!!

Nothing simple springs to mind unless you use something extreme like PKill (process kill) to forcefully kill the pvrx2exe process.

I could add a time period option and close things down but that isn't as simple as it sounds.

To be honest I don't really want to go any further along this line (for recording purposes anyway). I only added the AutoPlay function because it didn't take much work and it seemed it may be of some use to some people.

More sophisticated recording capability is on my todo list but I'm still trying to work out the best approach.
