I want to install ML2 or ML3 for use with the PCH and I wonder if there a consensus on which is the prefered version right now. Sorry I have been following for a while but I want to offer it as an alternative.

If it matters anymore, I plan on using it with MLPanel.

ML2 is more stable and more feature rich. ML3 looks prettier, and honestly for me, pretty much does everything I need.

I think the user consensus would be ML2.

My vote is for ML2. For me ML3 is still unusable. See my signature for link to my compilation of problems. I tested til version 8.06, which as far as I now is the latest release I got directly from Psycik.

PS: If I state ML2 I mean release 7.2. This is the latest completely functioning version. The present release ML2 on the WIKI shares the "backend" of ML3. That is where in my opinion the problems are located. Strangely quite a few users have reported problems with 7.2 I must admit.

Thanks psycik, I tried ML3 but it doesn't seem to support Incremental Updates to the PCH but ML2 works like I remember, I forgot how much I used tkgafs mode I'm glad it's working again. I'm glad the two versions share a db now too.

Thank Pieter, if ML2 is as stable as it used to be, I will be happy, I will go back to an earlier one, if need be. I know it used to run for days on end.

I currently have Community WS Skin and first tried ML2 and didn't work. Seems something with the Skin. I installed ML3 and it works, needs minor tweaks, but it's fast and have a lot of features.

I couldn't use ML3 reliably at all, so I stuck with ML2 but I have to dig out the old version because it is not as stable as I remember from a year ago. Since I am sure I won't be using ML3 database consistency is not important to me.

I'll take a look at it, I thought I had it working.

Ok, I was able to make ML2 work. Found a couple of issues after activating loggging:

1- Background.jpg was not found under the skin2 folder.
Apparently the plugins needs to look into Skin2/Community-WS folder as its not doing that.

2- ScreenHeader.png was not found. This one was looking at: 'C:\Program Files\Devnz\Skin2\Community-WS\_CoreImages\'.
As you see the GBPVR folder is missing, so I have to copy/recreate this folder structure so the puglin could find the files.

Question: Do we need to modify the ML2 dll to make this consistent? I tested on my DEV box and don't want to go throught this again on my htpc box.?

7.2 For ML2 is the most stable. The 8.x series share a lot of backend code, and so they have the same instability problems. And not having an mvp any more it's fairly hard for me to test it.

The most urgent problems are related to playlists. I have done some extensive testing and reporting (see link in sig). Unfortunately there were hardly responses from others to confirm or oppose to my findings. I do not think that the majority of problems are due to the MVP platform. I double checked most via a VNC connection to my server. Skin problems with ML3 are mostly due to the fact that quite a few elements are not yet written to screen I think.
It would be good for new users if ML2.7 was made available again on the WIKI, and the 8 versions being marked clearly as beta developments.
ML2.7 and ML2.8 work fine with CS4 SD. (I presently use CS3 with the standard green skin, because it has a better contrast for my old eyes.)
