Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble getting GBPVR up and working and would like some direction.

My system is:
Hauppage 2250
Gigabyte GAMA78GM-S2H w/ AMD 4400

I'm starting off with a fresh install of XP with the latest drivers for each of the items above. I'm using Schedule Direct for my EPG info for my local Digital Cable provider Cableone.

GBPVR recognizes the 2250 fine and the EPG downloads fine. Unfortunately, none of the channels stay enabled when I try to save the settings. Do I need to map each individual channel the EPG station? If so GBPVR does not seem to be able to parse the channel information being send down from Cableone. Every channel shows up as Unknown. Sad

I hope this makes sense. Thanks!

yes, this step is absolutely mandatory. For every channel you want to work, you need to map the tuning request to the EPG channel... gb-pvr has absolutely no other way to know.

Once you've got the scan done, you should be able to see video and hear audio by clicking on a channel in the scan results list... that should help you figure out what channel each one is (you can make the window bigger with a mouse click). If you can't see or hear you probably don't have any decoders installed. You can start with the simple MPV filter (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm) for video and ac3filter for audio (http://www.ac3filter.net).

Also, go to the Silicon Dust channel database and enter your zip code. http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels_us. Assuming they have info for your cable co, that should help a bunch.

Thank you for all the replies? I'll take a look at that website, and in the mean time here are my logs.

Johnson, it looks like the link you mention is for OTA? I'm using digital cable.

you have to pick a lineup from the drop menu at the top after you put in your zip code. I tried with zip code 83720 (about in the middle of the bunch for Boise), and it showed me 57 clearqam channels for CableOne: http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/lin...eup_287559

Ahh, ok. If you open that web page in Firefox (the default browser I use) the drop down doesn't show up. Opening it in Internet Exploder gets it to show up. Smile

It works fine for me in Firefox. But either way, as long as you got the info.

I figured out a fairly easy way to sync the channels up. I just printed out my schedules direct channel list and matched them up. Worked perfectly, and it left me wondering why GBPVR doesn't do this automatically? At any rate, I just need to figure out how to get the 2250 to receive the lower analog signals as well (2 through 60 or so).

How would it do it automatically? Digital cable channels are broadcast in no specific order, usually with no channel names/numbers/identifers, so GB-PVR has no way to know what each channel is. I may be missing something, but I dont think so. Maybe you just got lucky and are with a cable operator that broadcasts channel names or something that made you think it was easy.
