Can I navigate DVDs with a mouse?

I use a 5 button wireless mouse exclusively to control my HTPC running GB-PVR, instead of a remote control. The rig works great. A problem that I've recently come across however is that I can't seem to navigate the DVD menus with the mouse. It requires me to use a keyboard. Is there any way to allow the mouse to navigate the DVD menus?

Any help would be much appreciated. Smile

Mouse works fine for me on the DVD menus. What DVD video decoder are you using? I use "MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)" (Mpeg2DecFilter.ax)

It can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles..._id=264678

For video decoder I use CyberLink Video/SP Decoder. This is the only option other than system default and comes from an install of PowerDVD XP.

I don't think it's the Video Decoder though, seems like it's more likely to be the Navigator. What navigator are you using? The only option I have is 'DVD Navigator'. I've seen people talk about having other options in that drop down but I can't find any documentation on how to add things in there.

I use the standard "DVD Navigator" as well but the MPC decoder is the only one that I've been able to use that shows the menu highlighting with it.

I'll try it out, but how did you get it to show up in the menu? I downloaded the .ax file and then ran "regsvr32" with the file location. I got a message saying that it was added to the system but I can't get it to add to the menu dropdown.

I forgot about that, sorry. Edit config.xml with notepad (not wordpad) and add the name "MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)" (no quotes) to the following sections:

<SupportedDVDDecoders>
<SupportedDecoders>

Use a comma to separate the names (no space after the comma). You can then select it in the DVD decoder and the main playback decoder dropdowns.

I got it added to the menu and selected. I assume it's working as I can see the menus. Still can't click on the items with the mouse though. The right click to exit works but nothing happens when I click on the menu items.

I just figured it out after dropping my mouse on the floor and watching the DVD start. Apparently I was clicking the wrong mouse buttons.

Apparently I can use the scroll wheel on the mouse to highlight the menu options and click the mouse wheel to select. I had no idea this was how the DVD menus were suppose to work but it seems to work fine with both video decoders.

Seems like kind of an odd setup but it works. I can find no documentation on the controls for this part of the program so I hope this helps others.

I just move my mouse over the menu item I want (highlighting confirms my selection) and then click the mouse. Not sure why it works for me and not you. Your method works as well though.
