I may have really done it now...
I was in the standard video library when I saw a folder that I didn't think should be there. it was called "shortcut to local disk c:" or something. I had gotten sick of looking at it. I figured i must've inadvertantly created some short cut one time so I deleted it through GB-PVR. As soon as my hard drive started churning I knew I had goofed.
Anyway, this appears to have crippled my computer and deleted a boat load of stuff from my C drive. Is this correct? And if so, why is it there at all?
Anyway - moot questions.
Is there any way I can recover from this?
Luckily, I've got this laptop that'll let me do things, because my main computer even had a hard time displaying web pages, now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Unfortunately, if you really have deleted a whole load of stuff off your C:\ drive and you don't have a backup, it is probably time for a format and Windows reinstall.

As we all know, this takes a while. Having learned my lesson many times, I now create a 16-32GB C: partition for Windows and a D: partition for data, and use free disk imaging software called Macrium Reflect to take an image of my C: drive onto an external drive (1) after initial Windows install, (2) after downloading and applying the service packs and latest patches, and (3) after installing GBPVR, related software and codecs.

That way I can always go back to a "clean" install at any stage when i stuff things up. A C: partition backup only takes about 3 minutes, and a restore takes about 5-10 max. Sometimes I use this for switching between an XP install and a Vista install too. Has saved me hours of reinstall and reconfigure many times now.

Good luck!
