this is mainly for sub, i know hes away but i still would like to get developers opinion on this. now that ive made the "my programs" plugin, i feel that it would be nice if users could launch a few plugins via this, and by hitting the menu button (or the back button, ie just override the .returntomainmenu() method) to exit back to the executing plugin. eg under my programs there are 4 categories, my apps, utils, games and emulators. the "Calculator" plugin could be placed in the "Applications" or "Utils" category, and the "Solitaire" plugin could be placed under the "Game" category. then when the user leaves these plugins, they are taken back to the "my programs" plugin. also the "DVD ripper" could be placed in "utils" its would just be a nice way to remove excess buttons from the main menu, and neatly sort them.

what do you guys think? anyone know if i can do this already? configuration would just be a custom file eg "Calculator.gbpvr" in the user defined "Utils"/"Apps" directory. so just try and run a plugin called "Calculator" ([filename].[ext] = run([filename]).

I do something similar between fastfind and xrecord. when I create an instance of the fastfind class I send in a bool telling the plugin that it is nested. That signals if it calls return to main or sets a closed flag that xrecord checks.

My biggest wish is that sub add the plugin directory to the library search path.

I second the idea of adding the plug-in directory to the search path. I spent quite a while writing a panel framework that supported mini plug-ins (little panel widgets) for reporting various things. In the end I couldn't get it to work that in summary boiled down to things not being able to be found becuase they were in the plug-in directory and couldn't be found.
