As somebody who is on the verge of buying a NMT device, what does this new developer program The David Box mean for the existing MVPMCX2 emulation mode on NMT devices? Are they opening up their APIs which will lead to a better integration of GBPVR? Will this be back ported to the existing NMT devices?

Should I be putting off my purchase until Syabas releases the "next generation platform"?

Just when I thought it was safe to make the change from MVP to NMT they throw this in the works...

I'm curious too but I just can't keep up with how fast technology is changing in this area. Jeez, don't they know we're in a recession and the desire to have the latest and greatest is like a disease?
Just because I like pain, I signed up. Big Grin

I don't have any insider information on this, but here is how interpret the David Box. First you should understand that the NMT's access a web port (MSP) using custom Syabas markup. Sub created a brilliant interfact from GBPVR the NMT using this language before mvpmcx2. This markup is still available (not the GBPVR side) on the new C-200 and the speed is improved, but mvpmcx2 is still faster.

Back to the David Box. My feeling is that Syabas are supplementing MSP with a Flash-based interface now that the new Sigma chips support Flash-Lite (and embedded flavour. The code name for this seems to be rich object graphics. The David Box is probably a means for a developer to create a Flash interace.

Conceivably sub or another GBPVR developer could write a David Box server maybe taking advantage of UJB's web services. While intriguing it is not something I want to do. I have read that some people where thinking of a Silverlight interface, a Flash interface might be more portable.
