Assuming large wholesale changes could be done, what changes would like to see in the UI?

If there is aspects of other apps that you like, try to give me a brief description, or maybe point me at a youtube video that happens to show that feature (giving me a time reference if it's in longer bigger video).

Maybe there is features you've seen in your set top box that you'd like?

First, thanks for asking. You've done very well on your own without opening this up to the millions of opinions you're likely to be bombarded with.

I'll probably think of other things but one thing I like about some other programs, like Windows MC is being able to right click on a program in the guide and having the choices to set season record, search, program details etc. Of course to go further, it would be nice to also be able to choose to convert the file with a right click as well.

I can't think of too many UI changes except these two (I think they were requested previously):

Current time shown on all screens. During video/recording playback would be nice too (when bringing up the OSD of course).
Archive recording to preset folder/drive.

Now on the back end, I've got a couple of requests. Just let me know when you're ready for those. Big Grin

I'm also interested to hear any suggestions anyone has on how they'd prefer channel mapping to occur. I know this can be painful, particularly for DVB-S and QAM users.

1: When playing a video file, I would like a way to manipulate the current filterGraph being used. So I would need some method of connecting to it. Something like PlayVideoFile(file, description, out filtergraph).

The reason for this is so that I can use the IStreamSwitcher interface of the MPC Splitter to switch audio streams during playback of Blu-rays. So I would also need the chance to respond to keypresses during playback. I don't think the specifying filters is needed anymore on my end.

2: On the digital channel mapping screen, have the option to disable the preview and only preview when specifically requested. (I suspect this may help solve the HDHR crashing during scan issue. I don't believe it's a GBPVR issue but this may be a workaround.)

I know there are a couple more but I'll try to remember them.

Oh, save the SD lineup name changes to the scan cache file.

And the abilty to copy tuning information from another tuner. (Low priority on this one since JavaWiz's tool works so well. Might help make setup easier for new users.)

On the channel mapper, I'd like
  • To have drag-drop capability from the "Channels found during scan" list to the channel map list. This would make it easier to grab the right freq string when mapping to a physical channel. If not drag-drop, maybe a right-click popup with ability to add the currently selected frequency to the selected channel.
  • As I map a channel, it should be removed from the found list, so it is clear that one has already been mapped.
  • Provide the ability to easily un-map a channel if I got it wrong (and make channel available again in the other list).

I use GBpvr as much, maybe more, for music as I do video, mostly because of the Jukebox2 plug-in. Now that the code for it has been released and posted in the Wiki maybe you could incorporate it right into GBpvr. It's as easy and simple a music player as I've come across. I don't think it would need much to replace the music library features and end up with a music player that does so much more.

Just a thought.
