Hi Everyone,

I thought that MW already had support for this option (I can select "local" for the metadata) however I'm not having any luck.

Due to the German descriptions, the best option for me is to use Salami's movie organizer to get the image and metadata, then MW for display.

However I keep getting the english IMDB stuff loaded and it's pants!

Thanks,
Dane

Cheap Medion Minitower, but it's quiet enough

- LG C2 with Jellyfin front end, NPVR back end
- 30TB storage, ~7,500 films

Movie Wiz stores the metadata in it's own database. Data can be loaded into the the database by:
  • Scanning HD for new movie files. Metadata will be retrieved from
    • the recordings database
    • IMDB.com or TheTvDb.com.
    • embedded metadata
    • external .xml file (i.e. StarTrek.avi - StarTrek.xml)
  • Importing
    • From previous export from MovieWiz
    • From ANT Movie Export
I don't currently have anything that will read the MyMovies.xml file, but I believe that is in the same format as the 4th bullet (external .xml file).

I will make a change in the next version to look for the MyMovies.xml file during the load for new movies.

Hi JavaWiz,

thanks -- I appreciate it. Now I understand some of the mixed results, as I have directories where the XML file is the same name as the movie, and others where its "mymovies.xml" -- same with "moviename.jpg" compared to "folder.jpg".

Regards,

Before I forget -- is there any way to purge the MovieWiz database completely with a single command? After a few messed up tries, I have to delete the whole thing entry by entry...

Thanks,

Simply copy the MovieWizEmpty.db3 over MovieWiz.db3 (found in gbpvr/plugins/MovieWiz). This will set everything back (database wise) to the start.

This would be a good feature. Now that I got MovieWiz working well, I noticed that a lot of the data that it read in is not right. All the folders have already been setup with My Movies. They contain all the data that is needed along with front and back covers. Each of these are in the same directory with the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders. The files are named:

mymovies.xml
mymovies-back.jpg
mymovies-front.jpg

It would be great if MovieWiz could recognize this and import this data and the cover art. Might also be nice if there was an option to display the back cover since this exists in My Movies.

Thanks for all the work. I'm really liking your plug-in now that I got it going.

Currently MovieWiz has an import function to import either a Recordings exported file, or an ANT movie catalog file.

If I added MyMovies.xml to this import function, would that suffice?

That would certainly be a good start. I'm guessing you would have to do this with each movie, which would take awhile if you had lots of movies.

It would be nice if when you imported the MyMovies.xml file you also grabbed the front cover art at the same time if it exists.

Thanks,

Actually, the import function would process the entire mymovies.xml file, and load any entry (based on filename) that did NOT already exist in the db. Therefore you should only have to run it once in awhile...

If you have a sample mymovies.xml file you could send my way, I could use it for testing, as my test file may not be very real-world...

I've attached two of the files and simulated the structure that the folders are in. There is not one file. Each movie has its own individual file within the folder. Doing an import of everything would be great, but you would have to scan through each folder and then pick out the mymovies file for each movie.
