I would love to see some sort of integration with Audioscrobbler for music playback.

Audioscrobbler is a plugin for winamp, itunes, foobar2000, wmp, etc that logs all your played tracks to an online database and can provide recommendations based on your listening history. Heres my stats page - http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/phuturetech

The protocol thats used seems pretty straightforward (well at least to me, but what do I know [Image: biggrin.gif] ) - heres the description from the audioscrobbler site http://www.audioscrobbler.com/development/protocol.php

Another thing I would love is more complete net radio support - a lot of the stations I listen to are Real Player (especially the BBC) or WMP. Currently I use a plugin for the old MYHTPC software that uses Winamp to play the files back. Winamp then uses plugin called Tara to play back the Real files (with the help of Real Alternative or Real Player).

More info on Tara here - http://www.musiclivesonline.com/software/watara.html

Cheers,

Scott

Hey, after I read your post I desided to try out sudioscrobbler, and, after using it for almost a week I'm quite impressed [Image: smile.gif]

The potentialy best feature is the last.fm radiostadion it makes, it playes a selection of the music you have listened to and I think it could be put to good use in GBpvr, this is what I'm thinking about: When I'm in the menu/guide/plugin in GBpvr it usualy doesn't take long untill I start too feel that it's awfully quiet around me [Image: smile.gif] If you could tell GBpvr to play your own last.fm radio station everytime GBpvr isn't playing anything else (music or video), then you always have background music that you like! It always starts at a new song when you open the stream, so you could assign the skip button to 'restart the stream' so you can skip songs if it starts playing something you're not in the mood for.

The last.fm radio is an mp3 stream, so I assume it should be possible to make it play in GBpvr, there just need to be a setting somewhere that makes GBpvr play it all the time when you're in the menu. [Image: tounge.gif]

Oh, my audioscrobler page is here - http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/nkh33/ Wink

Bump! (In the hope that one of you wonderful plugin writers will help some poor men out - if not i'm bumping this thread every two or three months until Sub kills it Big Grin )

NKH - must admit that I hadn't seen much of Last.FM when i wrote the original message - I used to check my scrobbler page every month or two for recommendations (5 of my top 20 on AS are AS recommendations) but I've been using my Last.Fm stream (and the Audioscrobbler page) quite a lot recently - you can't go wrong with a streaming playlist of your own favourite music Big Grin

And I agree entirely - it would make an excellent choice for GBPVR background music.

Cheers,

Scott

You know, you'd be surprised how far KingArgyle's BleepBloop sound plug-in goes towards curing that need for sound while surfing the GBPVR interface. I use one of the alternate sound packs that has the Tivo-like sounds. Very nice touch indeed.

I might have to try this scrobbler thing though. The Built in net/fm radio features leave much to be desired...

I'm looking at building an Audioscrobbler plugin now... shouldn't really be too hard, although unlikely to have all the niceties of the WMP (and other software I presume) plugins. We'll see how I go in my investigations....

Yeah, Just signed up on last.fm (username MaBo was taken already, though  ). It is a great way to get to know new and similar music.

It would be very nice to listen to last.fm in gbpvr!!

sub why doesn't this work when installed with wmp? doesn't GB use wmp for playback? how come the visualization plugin can be used but not the audioscrobbler plugin?

It doesnt really use WMP, it just uses a few components that give me the visualisations.

You might check out LastFMProxy. I am using that with XMPlayer and it works like a champ. It may work equally well with gb-pvr.
