I've had this problem several times and while I did learn enough to write down the solution last time (at least I remember doing so), I left that info at home.

I can't get my in-laws NMT (PCH A100) to see GBPVR as a media source. I remembered the MVPMC and GBPVR folders need to be shared, and of course you need to setup GBPVR to auto start a server for it - what else am I missing?

-Embarrassed

ps I had previously upgraded the firmware to 01–17-091202−15-POP-402–000

The best bet is to use NMTInstall to do this all for you.

FYI, their PC's OS is WinXP Pro SP3. Simple File Sharing is enabled, but no shares show up under the PC on the NMT.

Will that work over-the-top of what's already configured? I'd hate to start over, especially with all the HD channel mapping business.

Just use the new (today) option Full Client.

Good thought, but that did help. The NMT still cannot see any shares on the PC. The NMT can see the PC under the Workgroup, and the PC shows the MVPMC and GBPVR folders are shared. Anything else I can check?

Thanks,
-Brad

Are you sure you enabled Simple File Sharing and mvpmc is shared for Guest as well as Everyone

http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...-us;304040

Until you see the Guest shares (maybe blocked by Firewall to) on the NMT there's not a lot I can do to help.

Yep, I have both folders shared at Level 5 (network R/W access). I did not think to check the firewall though since the recording service and PVRX2 had access. My ZA at home did not block this by default, but my in-laws were using McAfee, I did not look at that. Guess I'll do some digging on McAfee.

Thanks,
-Brad

Level 5 is Everyone, I think you still need to explicitly add Guest (although NMTInstall should do that too).

An antivirus' security can definitely get in the way.
