Hi,

I have been able to install GBPVR as well as mvpmcx2 on my PCH A110 using the CSI - everything works great. The challenge that this method requires a HD in the PCH and I don't really need one there as I stream all my content from my computer.

As an alternative, I've been trying to use the dummies guide to install using a network share (NMTInstall program - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38896)

I've followed all the instructions but I cannot see the network share -- running a Windows 7 PC. I think it must be a firewall issue.. but can't figure it out, here's what I've done...

1. Enabled simple file sharing
2. Disabled password protected sharing
3. Created a guest account
4. Run the NMTInstall program - didn't get it to install GBPVR but I did ensure that the windows firewall setup scripts are run.
5. Changes security settings on c:\mvpmcx to share the folder
6. Ensured my PCH firmware is the latest and greatest
7. Changed PCH video to 1080i
8. Disabled any firewall on my router
9. Run msconfig to not boot any other program except GBPVR (to ensure no other software on the PC is creating a firewall)

When I select my PC from the network browser, it doesn't see any shares. I'm totally lost, what could I be missing? I even tried totally disabling Windows firewall and no luck.

thanks,
Steve

Did you follow the Vista guide on the NMT wiki?

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...work_Share

I think it's the same except for encryption.

Yes, step by step. The interface was a bit different on Windows 7 but I think I did everything correctly. Very confusing.

I did find a reasonable possibility because of a change in Windows 7 defaults. If you don't have a master browser on your network you would need to do the following

Switch ON the Computer Browser service that is set to 'Manual' by default to 'Automatic.' Then modify the service to start the browser automatically.

Steve,

Can you see and access the mvpmc dir using explorer from another computer on the network?

You might try looking at the sharing & security tabs of the properties for c:\mvpmc. Try sharing/advanced sharing, click on permissions.

Thanks for you help guys, interesting findings...

Martin, I looked at the Computer Browser service and it was Manual but on. I changed it to Automatic and rebooted. For the first time, when I clicked on MediaSource, it not only had the computer but it didn't say "Unauthorized". Prior to this it would always either not show up or show up and say Unauthorized... Still when browsing for shares, "No Content Found"

Esteban, I have a laptop running Windows XP... I changed the domain to WORKGROUP (same as my Windows 7 computer and PCH) and then I could see all shares on my Windows 7 machine including mvpmc directory. I could browse the directory no problem. I then setup the XP machine with a share and went to the PCH and low and behold, no problem accessing the shares from PCH via Setup/Network Share browse...

So, IMHO, its a Windows 7 thing. I'm surprised nobody else has hit this before... I'm not usually one for blazing a new trail.

Now that you have the Computer Browser working, I'd suggest you turn on 40/56 bit encryption. I don't think the PCH support Windows 7's new 128 bit encryption

I just swapped out XBMC for Win7 RC applied the settings we discussed and it worked okay. I did have to manually add Guest to the share.

Right Click mvpmc Folder -Properties - Sharing - Advanced Sharing - Permissions - Add - Guest
