I have noticed with my installation that when I have EVR renderer enabled it disables my menu button from toggling between listings and live tv/menu and live tv/live tv. Is this normal behavior or just something with my setup? I am running Windows 7. The VMR9 Custom renderer works fine for my purposes, I was just curious. Thank you!

Yes, thats correct. I can only mix the direct3d menu graphs and video with the VMR9 renderer.

Ahh ok, good to know that it is a technical limitation. I LOVE the menu toggling option and VMR9 works fine for me. Thank you for the insight, and as always for a great application

The VMR9/EVR issues are one of the things stopping me from making a move from XP to Windows 7. Can I ask...

- I'd need to run EVR for DXVA? (I know my machine is useless on the HD channels without hardware acceleration). With Windows 7 and VMR9 there is no hardware acceleration?

- About the Live TV/Menu mixing - you say it can't be done (fair enough), but does the audio still get played? I like being able to have the TV on, press Menu (main menu appears; TV in a sub window), then browse the guide, or other plugins etc while still listening to whatever is going on with the TV. So with EVR I'd lose the sub window showing the picture, but will the sound continue?

- Aspect ratio changes? I have a couple I rely on. The remove letterbox option, and a custom one I use to overscan the picture +10% at the bottom, and -5% left and +5% right (to remove an annoying breakfast TV logo that has burnt into my screen :madSmile. From what I've read, any aspect ratio that attempts to do a negative scaling will no longer work? So the letterbox one will fail for sure, and my other one will probably fail on the left stretch. I guess I can get around that by stretching 10% down, 10% right - I'd lose a little more of the picture, but it would at least keep people's heads the correct shape.

Any other issues I should be aware of?

Thanks

It is my understanding that EVR is required for DXVA. I am not working with HD video so it's a non-issue for me at this point.

With EVR the menu button simply takes you back to the main menu. I can't answer your other questions because I stopped using it once I figured out that it was the cause of the toggle not working.
