After testing, I assume there is no way to display fanart in the Video Library unless using a "slick" type Menu? I also assume fanart won't work for the Music Library?

You have the "slick" part correct, I don't know about Music Library, haven't tried yet.

Man this has been a frustrating exercise, everywhere I turn something won't work when using the vertical style Main Menu & personally I am not a fan of the horizontal Main Menu. On googling around unfortunately it looks like we are falling behind a lot of the other PVR's on the eye candy side of things, hopefully sub will look at it again in a future version.

All I am trying to do is make my two skins different from each other by moving B-R-HV away from being just a smaller font version of B-R-SHV, I don't want to, or have the time to make & maintain a Slick style skin as well, two skins can be more than enough work as it is (& I suspect I will have heaps to do when 1.5.x is released, maybe I should ask sub for a pre-release version so I can get onto it now).
