Well, bugger it. I misremebered that you dropped support for OSD via plugins in the pvrx2 interface. Is there no hope at all for adding it back? You obviously have the ability in code to do it, is it that hard to expose it to plugins?

I don't mean that in a negative way, it just seems like it should be relatively easy to allow a plugin to call a method to put up some text and an icon.

Grumble, I really don't want to use MythTV...

Developers never really used the feature in the years that GBPVR.exe had it, so I didnt bother spending the time to reimplement it in PVRX2.exe.

That said, in the next release it is possible for plugins to show OSD graphics (and monitor playback position, keys pressed during playback, and pause/play/skip the playback).

That's great news!

Can they display text (is that considered OSD graphics?) and can I help debug that next release?

I'll send you a PM about testing.

Are you intending to create a plugin yourself, or just wishing this feature was in place for other developers to use?

I'm interesting in writing a plugin. I'm bringing up mythtv right now, it has this handy plugin

That looks like it would do what I want. I'd likely implement something very much like that in a gbpvr plugin - something with a web interface that I can post some data to and have it thrown up as an OSD would be nifty.

Cool, maybe someone will revive the caller id plugin.
