I have one glitch on my Windows 7 64-bit install. I don't think it is related to GBPVR, but I am posting here in case anyone can help.

On some channels I get audio popping in Live TV - it's hard to describe but the sound seems to be changing volume very fast; you would imagine it as a sawtooth pattern. So most noticeable on long duration sound like background music.

It is very noticeable on channels such as CBS Action, ITV2, Film 4 - and even ITV HD. It cannot be down to a particular Hauppauge tuner, because it effects both DVB-S and DVB-T

If the channel is recorded, the sound is fine when played back. Don't think it's the decoder - I normally use FFDshow but I have tried others and same thing. I dual-boot this PC and in XP I don't get the problem. Tried updating the Realtek HD sound drivers to the latest on the Gigabyte website (Sep 09), updating the Hauppage drivers to 1.3c, and have tried different builds of FFDshow - but problem persists.

I don't know if my problem is similar to yours but my latest build is using the onboard audio and I hear popping regularly. This can happen before going into sleep or coming out. Or, if I have paused a program for a bit it might happen as well. In my case, it's not just GBPVR but also Media Center and VLC. It's also mentioned iin the ASUS forum as something others have had problems with. I can't say it's W7 x64 because another system I built not using onboard audio is just fine.

Yes I am using onboard audio also -Realtek ALC889A. Works fine XP
So could be either the 64-bit drivers for the onboard sound, or maybe the Hauppage tuner driver for Windows 7.
A sound card is out of the question - all my slots are used by TV tuners!

Are you using spdif or the analog output? I've not noticed this with my Gigabyte 780G on win7 x64 pro using the optical spdif out from the onboard sound card... I've had "popping" on some channels that have been decoder related though. The installation of the SAF pack seems to have solved them (although didn't solve everything as I had to go back to the ATI Mpeg2 decoder for a completely perfect (hmmn, something will go horribly wrong now I say that!) setup).

In my case its analog out. I've not tried spdif.

Yes I also use analgoue. The Realtek Azalia HD audio chip is actually pretty good - apart from this issue I have with W7-64.
I always thought a PC could do it all, including surround sound, and that is the setup I use, with just the PC behind the LCD and some rear speakers and a subwoofer (I use the LCD speakers for front channels).

I had a similar issue on my win7 server. Problem seemed to go away when i set 'highpriority' an 'usebothcores' in config.xml......i can't remember the proper names but i'm sure you can find them.

Thanks for the ideas - no difference though. I don't think processoraffinity has any effect now. I tried raising process priority in task manager.
Realtek has much newer drivers available than Gigabyte - might give them a whirl.

Seems lots of people have the same issue;
http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/2...pping.html
Def. a Win7 issue. Whilst no fix works for everybody, a common cause seems to be power-saving in Windows 7 & Cool n quiet. If all power-saving featues are turned off, problem goes away - but like most HTPC users I rely on these features to keep the PC - erm, cool and quiet! Hopefuly a future driver release will sort it out.

I just rebuilt my PVR this weekend with Windows 7 Pro and am experiencing the same problem. This must be very common. My audio is over HDMI via an HD 4670 video card.

So far, I am struggling to get the performance out of Windows 7 that XP had. I'm almost ready to roll back.
