I just upgraded the drivers for my ATI graphics card from 10.2 to 10.3, and now whenever I try to start GBPVR it says "Sorry, this system does not support the required VMR9 video renderer". I tried the other renderers, but EVR runs at about 1fps, and overlay displays nothing at all (not even a blank screen). I tried reinstalling GBPVR, including completely deleting the install directory, but that changed nothing.

Everything was working fine until I changed the drivers, and that was the only change I made.

System specs (more here):
AMD Athlon II x2 250
Asus M4A785TD-M EVO
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD4770
Win XP SP3

sounds like a bad driver install...try removing all ati stuff 'including installer' and reloading new version again..
[sometimes they don't completely uninstall first time]

It worked, thanks. It's strange, I used the Catalyst install manager to uninstall everything, but when I looked back in add/remove programs, there was an "ATI display driver" still listed there.

ATI's install managers have been notorious for not removing all of the old stuff when updating to their new stuff. In the Catalyst forums, they almost all say that another cleaner program, like Driver Sweeper, has to be run after the install manager has "removed" the old drivers and software. Another uninstaller program that you might like is Revo Uninstaller (freeware) which has options to search for leftover items in the registry and hard drive.

I just had to reinstall my drivers using the Catalyst 9.3 Hotfix for AGP and it was tons of fun. I really wanted to use the 8.11 Hotfix, but somehow it got deleted from my PC (prob during a moment of total craziness on my part) and ATI/AMD doesn't have it anymore. Bummer for me.

Are the 10.x drivers pretty good? I think I'm still using the 9.x drivers. They work for me, so I never wanted to upgrade. But, sometimes you just can't help it Big Grin

I've been having the same debate, the 9.12 (or whatever it is) I'm using is working fine, but there's something telling me I should upgrade anyway but I really dont know why..! There's something else telling me it'll only arse everything up if I do!

I updated 2 days ago and haven't had any problems. Actually, I've never had any problems with their updates (knock on wood).
