Hi,

My MVP, after a period of sitting on the shelf, now when its powered and connected to the network, just says "Checking Ethernet Connectivity" and thats it, nothing more.

I've plugged it directly into the router the Media Centre is plugged into, and the router can not see the MAC address of the MVP.

Question: Is the MVP toast?

Thanks

Matt

Edit: Its a wired MVP

It's sometimes difficult to tell by the router since the MVP gives up it lease. I'd try another cable before writing off the MVP.

Hi Martin,

Thanks, I'll try another cable, not sure if it will make a difference as it wasn't working at the original place, and the cable its now using is brand new, but I'll give it a go.

Best Regards

Hi Again,

Plugged in my "new" refurbished PCH a110 with the same same cable and the PCH works fine. Looking at the blinking lights at the back on the MVP there is no activity. Do you know if this can be resurrected?

Anyway, looking forward now to getting the PCH up and running, trying to avoid explaining to my wife what the additional new box is...

Best REgards

In my thinking blinking is activity.

How about loading up the original Hauppauge software etc, power cycle the MVP to force load the Haup firmware and settings?

You could also check a sniffer program like Ethereal (opensource) to see if the MVP is broadcasting to the network at all .

I am having a similar issue with checking connectivity...
the wired MVP used to work with gbpvr. but I was having other issues with GBPVR.
kept crashing at night (or whenever I update my TVGuide listings...)... not sure why.
so I totally uninstalled gbpvr, and microsoft .NET 2 stuff and its updates...

reloaded it.. (except for the updates. just the .net 2 stuff.)

and GBPVR works great, doesn't crash anymore... but the MVP now will not connect.
it keeps saying. checking connectivity... SO. I installed the haug. software... and
verified that it still would work like it used to (except I like GBPVR so much better than the haug software). so I recently uninstalled that back.. but still can not get GBPVR to work.

I have tried a few other dongle.bin files I seen in the listings...but it doesn't appear to be seeking them out...

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Compressing and uploading your logs would help, but if it used to work, after a reinstall I'd check to see that I'd enabled the MVP Server in config.exe and make sure the Recording Service is set to interact with the desktop.
