I've seen some similar threads to this, but I can't quite use them to solve this problem. My Pinnacle 80e (mini HD PCTV Usb) device works fine with the company's TVCenter Pro software, picking up channels with either a ATSC antenna or ClearQAM coaxial attatched, but I cannot get GB-PVR to use the device to search for the ClearQAM signal. Again, GB-PVR will work and will search for channels when the PCTV is attached to the ATSC antenna, but will not give me the option to search for ClearQAM cable channels even if a coaxial cable is hooked into the device. My operating system is Windows 7 64bit. My thought is I need to make a change to the driver or registry (but definitely need some guidance in doing so), especially considering I have the exact same problem when I try to use the device with HP MediaSmart Live TV. ANY tips or suggestions would be extremely helpful. Feel free to ask any info from me, or if I need to try and further clarify the problem I am having. Thanks in advance.

Search your registry for "ATSCMode" and set it to "2". See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post270987
pBS found this out with the K-World tuners and it worked for me on my Pinnacle device. Also make sure that you set up the device using device name that ends with "(QAM)". If you don't see that option, run filtercheck.exe and zip and post the resulting filtercheck.log

Changed the registry files, but do not see the (QAM) option in the device name (even though it does support QAM). Below is the filtercheck.

Ah, the default bda.ini does not have an entry for QAM for that device. I guess no one had attemted QAM with that device or driver version before. Edit your bda.ini with notepad and add the following entry:

Code:
[Pinnacle 80e (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=PCTV 80e TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE= PCTV 80e Device
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

You may want to search the bda.ini for "Pinnacle 80e" and put the above after the ATSC entry for it.

Ahh thanks so much. I had tried modifying the bda myself but couldn't quite get the right values. Your insert worked like a charm! now if i could just get this crazy epg setup to work (for free) I'll be in business... Thanks for the help!
