Hey sub Smile

While watching a few older movies, i experienced something special. A lot of older movies in germany have Mono Sound. This is normally no problem, but these type of movies have different languages saved in every sound channel. The left channel has german and the right channel has another type of language (in most cases the original language: english, france, spanish etc.).

It would be wunderful if i could switch with my remote between (like on the older televisions) between stereo/mono left/mono right/dual mono sound while watching live tv or recordings.

At the moment it's really annoying to watch these videos and listen simultan to the german and other language audio... ^^;

Or is this already possible and i haven`t found this until today? I don`t think so, but the mighty GB-PVR has even today a few secrets. Big Grin

Does your system use AC3Filter?, and does it pop up when playback starts?

Mine does, and so with that there's a bunch of this you can do, I've just upped the voice volume of a movie I was watching on the fly. There may be some gain changes etc you can play with.

ffdshow audio can switch profiles on the fly with hotkeys..with it you can probably make the selected mono sound come out of both channels..Smile
so make profiles that play either left or right channel to both speakers, and assign hotkeys in ffdshow, and assign a remote key to the hotkey..
then you could switch channels on the fly with remote...

No, i don't use AC3Filter anymore. In my configurations AC3Filter don't work pretty well (slowdown of Video, jitter etc. which grows over the time).

This sounds not too bad, but i would prefer a primary function within GB-PVR itself. A HTPC should be as easy as possible to use; using other plugins and utilities outside GB-PVR itself is not really userfriendly. Switching audiotracks within GB-PVR via remotecontrol is possible while watching DVD and similar stuff, so i think it should be fairly easy for sub to add this extension. ;D

problem is, dvd's are organized as to what languages are present, how many streams are present,etc...making it easy for dvd's...
tv streams however, not so easy...no consistent organization of streams..
plus, not a problem encountered by most users..[multiple languages on one stream]

Unfortunately there isnt a standard API for making an audio decoder play only the left or right speaker. They pretty much all use proprietary interfaces for this. The only decoder I can do it with is the old Microsoft 'MPEG Audio Decoder'. The old GBPVR.exe used to be able to switch between them with this decoder. I cant remember if PVRX2.exe contained similar functionality for that decoder. Lucky this old dual audio scheme is not a big deal these days.

Yes, you're fully right. I didn't thought it were so heavy to implement this feature. For sure, i can live without this one. ^^; Perhaps i should then look (in theses cases) more into the direction "balance" of left / right channel. Mhm, not the perfect solution but it could work. I had the "problem" with an episode of "what is what" (an animated knowledge series) where a german and french audiotrack were played simultan. Believe me, it sounds awfully... oO
