Excelling looking release! However I'm having DVB-S setup problems. I've got a SkyStar2 PCI (DVB-S) and a Hauppauge HVR-4000 (DVB-T/DVB-S(2)). The DVB-T setup was amazingly easy. It did a scan, found all the Irish DTT channels (TV and Radio) and the DVB EPG and everything just worked. However DVB-S isn't so simple. Setting them both for Astra2/Eurobird1 to try and get everything FTA for the UK, the Technisat/Skystar2 goes through the motions of scanning and finds 0 channels. The HVR-4000 scans several TPs and finds several channels then crashes (creating a dump file) every time. I am not 100% sure if it's the same TP that causes the crash. GBPVR scanned fine on this card last time I tried (with 1.4.7). The skystar2 was never reliable for scans though.

Is there any way of using someone else's scan as with GBPVR? Logs attached although I'm not convinced they say much of use...

Can you apply this patch, then reproduce the error and repost the mdmp file?

No, short of them supplying you their NPVR.db3 file.

Hmm, dont think that went so well as it came out smaller than the last one. It's late here, so I'll try again with the patch and reproducing tomorrow.

I take it that not being able to copy scan files means that I have ultimately get both tuners to correctly scan?

Hi Sub

I seem to have the same problem with a Hauppauge WinTV DVB-S card. I works fine in 1.4.7 on the same machine, but when I scan in NPVR, it returns no channels. I suppose I should be pleased it doesn't crash. I applied the patch, but as there is no crash, I dont get the mdmp file. Logs attached anyway, just in case it helps.

I think it's a seperate problem, but when I try to play from one of my DVB-T cards, it says something along the lines of cannot connect to recording service. I don't want to hijack this thread though, so I will start a new one for that.

Server: Ci5 2500k, 3GB, Windows Server 2012, nPVR 3.5.7. 2xWinTV-DVB-T USB, 1xWinTV-DVB-T PCI, 2 x BlackGold DVB-T, 1xPCTV290E and 1xPCTV460E on Astra 28.2 E.
clients: RPI2, Acer R3700, PCH-A110, NUC, 3xSamsung Smart TV

Out of curiosity, did you change the tuner setting for LOF1, Switch and LOF2 these seem to default to different values to gbpvr config.

Is this something you'll address at some point, sub, as it was extremely handy for GBPVR? Personally, I liked having an (edited) cache file that contained just the channels I was interested in which made mapping much easier, especially when dealing with sat tuners and the potentially hundreds of unwanted entries. I know there are improvements in mapping with NPVR though.

On a similar topic (because I still haven't had a chance to try it yet), how does NPVR handle channel names? Do they come from the scan or the EPG? This is relevant because - in the UK - we can get the same channels from an aerial or from sat, but some of them do have slightly different naming ("ITV1" vs "ITV 1" as a made up example). The names have to be identical for GBPVR to treat them as multiple sources for the same tuner, and this was easily handled in GBPVR because I think the names ultimately came from the EPG where we had lots of control over what they'd be called (lots of xmltv tools allow channel renaming for instance).

I'm glad this wasn't just happening to me!!

This is the instability I was talking about previously, Sub.

I will try the patch and see if it improves things tonight.

I think that your new setup should see the end of the Scan cache shuffle. The cumulative scan is good also, as if you are worried it will crash, you just hit OK, interupt the scan and you have the channels it has so far.

My Nova HD S2 card can scan for a couple of mins. My good old Compro S350 conks out straight away. PS....shoudl I expect my Nova HD to pick up Mpeg4 channels automatically or will I need to edit the sat ini to include the extra numbers after the transponder info??

Incidently, does the Skystar work out of S3, 4, or 5 hibernate?? Beforem, mine needed a script to wake up the driver. I was wondering if they have improved it, as my Skystar is just sitting around at the mo.

PS....you WILL need to change the LOF settings to the same of those in GBPVR otherwise, yadda!!
