NPVR 1.5.21 apparently installs OK on my Win7 64-bit machine, but I only see the icon in the tray. When I right-click on it, I do not see the "settings" menu. The NextPVR.exe process shows up OK in the task manager, and the service is running. I tried your alternate NUtility, but that did not fix it.

Also, when I tried to "ReRegister filters", all I got was a series of error messages that the modules would not load, though I don't know if that is related to the first problem or not.

What happens when you run the NextPVR shortcut the installer created in the start menu? If you see the NextPVR UI, then you should be able to right click, and select 'Settings'.

When I run the NextPVR shortcut, I get an icon in the taskbar as shown in the left-hand image. Then when I right-click on the icon, I just get the second image. I suppose it is something simple that I am missing, but I don't see it.

Load up NPVR, then right click on the main screen. You will get a menu where you can enter your settings.

There is no "main screen", only the icon.

Here is the log. I wonder if installation order is critical? I started with NPVR, the did the Visual C++ 2008, and finally the DirectX. When that didn't work, I reinstalled NPVR.

But GB-PVR is working fine for me, so I don't know if this will be worth exploring much at this point. This is a relatively new installation of Win7 64-bit and everything works fine, but you never know. I did run a registry cleaner a day or two ago (before any of this however), and who knows what it took out.

Do you have a secondary monitor enabled? Check .\Users\Public\NPVR\Config.xml and see if <StartOnSecondMonitor>false<StartOnSecondMonitor> is present.

Reddwarf,

You are definitely onto something. I do run Folding@home on a second dedicated GT240 (not connected to a display), and have to extend the desktop for it. I checked the config.xml, and <StartOnSecondMonitor> was set to "true", so I changed it to "false". Is that correct? But even after a reboot, I still don't see the setup menu, even when I eliminated the extended desktop and set it to use only the primary display.

But we can't be far off now. I have attached my config.xml if you or Sub care to take the trouble to look at it.

Try deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NPVR\'Size' and 'Position' settings, then restart the app.
