I thought I'd put on my scuba gear and submerge into the waters of GB-PVR for a brief swim.

Hope all is well with everyone!

I got a new Win7 64 bit system (glad I skipped over Vista!)

I tried for a lark, running UltraXMLTV on the new system.. Had a few stumbles... Going to update the docs on how to get around them.

First is UAC... My profile is already an administrator account, and still I had to set the program to alwasy run as an administrator.. strange... well for me strange... I read that that is the wonderful life of UAC... anyway... I read that the answer to UAC is turn it off...

I wonder if there is a way to keep it at default, but allow just my program to run ... an Allow List or something... I read up on the net and it looks like there isn't, but no harm in asking...

The other, I thought I'd try to compile Ultra as a 64 bit app and see how it went... unfortunately it has a couple of dependancies to Whurlstons dlls, and I get errors...

But the really, what benefit would I get from having a AnyCPU or 64 bit version for my app? It's probably not worth having the other dlls updated...

Anyway... all in all Ultra is working fine now.. just a couple of small nuisances...

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...

The issue isn't running UltraXMLTV as administrator it is the location of the files.used by GBPVR. NPVR solves that problem my moving data out of the Program Files folder. The simple solution is make the devnz folder r/w by all users but you could probably get by by writing your output files to a UAC safe folder (root and Program Files aren't safe).

Using the UAC safe folders is the best method. If that isn't an option, you can use a manifest file to force it to run as Admin everytime (this will result in the dialog box appearing though).

If you need a 64 bit compile of any of my dlls, I can provide them. Is it just the xmltv.dll and isocodes.dll?

It would be interesting to see if Ultra runs any differently with 64 bit dlls, so yeah, would you mind? I think that I would probably rather compile my app as AnyCPU so one exe for both CPUs... is that the same for the dlls?

I'll be looking at the paths that Ultra requires... I kinda thought the UAC popup is from trying to access the registry, when writing out new keys...
