A-100 Firmware Upgrade Released 8-13

Just saw and download a new firmware release for the A-100.....in the release notes (last item) indicates that a browsing issue with PlayOn media server has been corrected......that issue is why I never could use PlayOn.....hoping this does fix it.

PlayOn just started another free trial this weekend......

messed around for an hour or so....playon still does not work on my setup... :-(

Worked with PlayOn support.....they found a bug and will address in next release!

Thanks UJB, maybe you can get this straightened out for me by the time Netflix comes to Canada this fall!

I've updated my dev environment to this version too.

I learned in this new PlayOn version that they now support Amazon VOD services....but it looks like you need to go to Amazon via a browser and select the movie......then PlayOn can access it from your online account.

Will you able to launch PlayOn if I pass a URL or movieID to it?

I don't know enough about PlayOn, but the files are streamed without DRM and the navigation playback process is all UPnP which uses http. If there is some logic in the UPnP file system maybe. I might find out more when I enable the 2 weeks when Netflix start up (Netflix, Amazon VOD, Hulu etc) aren't available here.

I wanted to post back and let everyone know I did get PlayOn working through the PCH using the latest PCH firmware and PlayOn. I had to have several rounds with PlayOn Support and then used the PCH support forums to figure out a way to get to the PlayOn links that show on the PCH without using the PCH itself (i.e. straight from browser) because PCH was unable to connect.

Once I was able to connect to a stream link I was able to uncover the root cause of my problem. Apparently PlayOn will not work if you are RDP'd (Remote Desktop) into the server........the streams I was trying had a PlayOn static message of Disconnect all RDP sessions. Do not close the session you must log off.

However, once you are logged off PlayOn is still hosed. The only way I could get it to work was to reboot the server and not log on remotely at all....then PlayOn worked fine. As soon as I log on via Remote Desktop PlayOn is done until next reboot.

My free trial is now over and I am not going to subscribe....to annoying. I reported the issue to Support and made some recommendations. They said they would take them into consideration. I will probably try again in another 6 months or so.
