I have uploaded a beta version of the mvpmc dongle that supports N-PVR a little better. http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/mvpmc_npvr.7z 1.5.31 is required.

My experiences so far

- old analog recordings stored as mpg seem to play and skip ok
- new analog recordings stored as ts play and skip ok (does not use timing.info)
- ac3 audio files can sound like *** and will be out of sync but play
- live tv play but you need to increase the rolling file size for long play time.

Be sure to set <TranscodeTsForMVP>false</TranscodeTsForMVP> in config.xml

I think this should be a new beginning for MVP users who want to use N-PVR. Let me know your experiences

Updated 2010-09-18 was sending PTS too early

Thanks Martin,

great stuff. Initial impression is that MVP's are playing NPVR live TV, which is absolutely brilliant. Trouble changing channels (hang) and test MVP nearest server and hub plays flawlessly, MVP's further away on network, glitching. Will it help to manually enter individual MVP settings in NPVR config.xml (as I did with GBPVR?)

At last Live TV with MVP and NPVR. Most excellent :-)

It doesn't really hang on changing channel, you just have to hit stop to get control back when you change channels because something isn't working. I wrote to sub with logs about this but I didn't get a reply.

Distance on a home network won't make any difference, so you should look for other solutions.

You should definitely copy in the offset etc from MVP into config.xml to avoid overscan but I'd also recommend you try the BRVE+ skin for PAL.

Good luck.

OK, that will work for now. At least it is playing Big Grin

Hmmmm, it is making a difference, just tried it again, and copied over MAC specific settings from GBPVR config to NPVR config. Perhaps just something in the 'air tonight' very rarely but sometimes I did get stutter over my home network with LiveTV on the MVP's, perhaps just this night that I chose to test it!

Haven't actually worked out where I change the skin for MVP yet with NPVR :o

Also will this in any way help me with my set-up:

If so will post there too!

Thank you so much I don't need luck when there's the likes of you Smile

The registry setting is here. http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post384920

I think if you want an hour you will need about 120000 seconds.

Thanks Martin, I remember reading this now on the thread. But as you know, me, threads, and posts, not great. I see that this is not relevant to my set up on this thread.

As far as I can make out MVP is working near flawlessly with NPVR and LiveTV (apart from channel change already noted)(required reboot of my router for some reason to let it settle)

Every now and then LiveTV will just stop playing, so is that back to rolling issue? (trying now)

Cheers

I made a typo you need about 12000 seconds, 10890 actually, per hour. If live tv is stopping after 6-7 minutes that is the rolling file limit.

Could this be made an option in settings of NPVR somewhere?

Sub? Should users have to hack the registry? Seems a little archaic to me?

Cheers

Officially there is no live tv support for the MVP. Pretty much the only way we'll get live tv support for it in the future is if Martin decides to update the mvpmc to use the http streaming interface used by the Popcorn Hour. This handles the new rolling file live tv buffer. I have no plans to add this logic to the old Hauppauge streaming interface.

The registry update is just a workaround that can allow you to unofficially watch tv in the meantime, but it has limitations.
