I just purchased a ASRock Core100HT-BD to use as a client in my living room. I also have a Universal Digital R50 that I would like to use to control it. The Core100HT came with a MediaCenter remote and already has an IR blaster integrated into the box. My question is if anyone has some ideas on how to control GBPVR with either remote instead of MediaCenter. I tried the remote and it controls MediaCenter just fine. But I can't even find which program it has loaded in the background to do this. Any and all help would be appreaciated.

But don't I have to find the program that is already running and disable/remap it first? I did notice 2 things in the device manager under "Human Interface Devices." One was a "Microsoft eHome Infared Transceiver" and the other was "Nuvoton W836x7HG CIR Device Driver." My guess is that this is the hardware that lets the remote talk to the computer. But I still can't find a process running that would intrepret the commands given by the remote.

there's a service called windows media center receiver, and startup program called ehtray. You disable both of those IIRC.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct

Well it's a start. I found the service, but it was stopped and my remote was still controlling my computer just fine. I did not find the process ehtray listed either. More ideas?

I did just find something called, "Human Interface Device Access." It is running and the description for it is "Enables generic input access to Human Interface Devices (HID), which activates and maintains the use of predefined hot buttons on keyboards, remote controls, and other multimedia devices. If this service is stopped, hot buttons controlled by this service will no longer function. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start."

you want to keep the device running you just need to kill anything that resembles media centre in task manager
msconfig and stop ehtray starting (if on Xp)

think its a bit different on W7

It turns out it didn't matter. I installed HIP accordining to the Wiki and everything seems to be working fine. My last question is this. When I push the MCE button on the remote it still brings up MediaCenter. Any way I can have HIP bring up PVRX2 instead when I push that button. That way in case someone accidently exits GBPVR they can open it back up again with the remote. (I don't plan on having a keybaord attached when this is all finalized.)

are you on Xp?
if you are then thats what the ehtray thing is
once you stop that from starting when windows starts
then you will be good to go

No, I'm running Win7-64 bit Pro. I think I've overridden the ehtray successfully with HIP, but now I need to figure out how to override the MediaCenter command.
